I looked it up. It will be a shit show of Biblical proportions.
Trucking companies have HUGE turnover as it is. Truck abandonment is fairly common. It's a lot more involved than canceling on a drunk dipshit Pool rider that takes 2:05 to find your car.
And spare me the 'self-driving 18 wheelers are the future' tripe. Those are a minimum of 10 years off.
Uber will "partner" with some financier to finance the trucks, the drivers make no money, they abandon the trucks, the financier is on the hook for lots full of used, re-possessed trucks that it can not sell........................................
........or is it that Uber Freight is going to be a railroad application? Can you dispatch trains by application? Uber might put uncertified engineers to drive the trains and claim that it is legal. Break a leg with the FRA on that one. Uber might get away with making "arrangements" with state and local officials, but it is more difficult and resource depleting to do that with Federal officials. It can be done, it just requires more effort and disposable resources.
Just saw a semi with a pink mustache do a U-turn on K Street, wtf.
