eh, not missing much. Looks like we get check for 27 bucks next year and attorney's get 2.5 mil. Business as usual!
Math is about right...7.5 million settlement, minus 2.5 million in legal fees = 5 million...
5 million divided by ~160,000 US Uber drivers and that's about $31.25.
Why $27, even though all 160,000 drivers won't get anything from this settlement? Don't forget all the legal system fees that are paid from the settlement and, depending on the terms of the settlement, any money Uber is going to put forth to certain groups or services as "good will" contributions.
This isn't unusual. I get class actions lawsuit material from AT&T, American Eagle and several other places from time to time from stuff they did years ago. Usually the amount is very minuscule due to the number of people that end up being rewarded or could be rewarded. Kind of makes one wonder if Class Action lawsuits are worth it, and what do the initiating complainants get? You know the lawyers are not losing out...
