Crap -- we knew this was coming. For many of us, this will backfire and we'll be even less likely to pick up a Stool.

Here is the complete email I just rec'd from Uber, minus the pictures:

uberPOOL pickups just got easier

uberPOOL pickups are getting safer, easier, and more convenient for you. Below, see three new features that will simplify pickups and keep you focusing on the road, not on your phone.

Pickups on uberPOOL

Three New Features

New uberPOOL riders will be automatically added to existing POOL trips. Your partner app will notify you with a sound and banner at the bottom of your screen. Routes and directions will update automatically, and in-app navigation is required. Learn more here.

Need a break or ready to call it a day? Now you can stop new requests from coming in while you're completing your last trip. Watch this video to learn more.

You will see a new timer in your app that will count down the 2 minutes wait time for POOL pickups when you arrive at a new rider's pickup location. Learn more here.

are yall in the DC market? they been adding the 2nd rider to pool automatically for about 3 weeks now
Are you running Android or something? On iPhone I've been accepting initial pool fares and turning down the second one all the way through today. I haven't been force fed a second pool rider yet. Once that starts happening I will stop accepting pool unless surging. Maybe I'll go to the office and get a delivery only option since the food is better smelling than the pax.

Which is why I almost exclusively do Uber Eats nowadays, though I will be tempted to accept pax if I'm destination filtering home and surge is > 1.5x #nomorepaxinmycar :D

But the crazy thing is once I turn on my GPS and they add the second pool person I can't see it.So I'll have pax calling asking am I still coming and I'm like huh?...It's crazy I don't think uber know about this tho.

I just got this shit today. So annoying. I got a Pool by accident then it automatically added the second. I cancelled it then did the 'last trip' or whatever the feature is called.

you know when there's more than 1 rider uber gets the extra profits from you getting an extra 25% price cut. the rider actually still pays the uberpool normal rate. the also charge full price no matter the distance or time but only give you the amount that you've driven. bunch of scumbags

this is awful pool is awful for ratings, this will increase firings, also since there are 3 pax in the car sometimes, all 3 can complain about something getting you fired, plus more cancellations. what if you accept one pooler, can you make it your last trip all the time, one extra is ok, once you get 2 its awful, actually miss uber x so much. just a year ago all uber x, 1.30 per mile, now all pool and 85 cents per mile.....

They must be rolling out app updates in waves. I've had the auto pickup on iphone for a few weeks now. I'm still holding my ground and haven't accepted a poop since the auto accept. I've actually stopped getting pings for them, I think I only got one last week and it was outside the beltway. And I never pickup outside the beltway.

I've gotten a nasty gram from uber a couple weeks ago because I ignored like 2 out of every 3 pings. I'm standing my ground and you should too. I was ok with taking it if I could choose whether I wanted a second or third, but not now ,no more, sorry. I actually think the app is getting the hint...

I turn down nearly all pool pings. Exceptions include high surge pool trip requests, and pool rides accepted by mistake (which I usually cancel.) I get a "You haven't been accepting rides" text message and email message every day at exactly 10:00 AM Pacific Time. These are sent out automatically. I have gotten these robo-texts for many months now. I just ignore these messages. Drivers have the right to ignore pool pings and other undesirable or unprofitable trip requests.
