I started driving for uber eats about a week ago. I have been getting many orders to be picked up about 20 minutes from my current location. At first I tried doing these and they were not profitable as most made me $8-$10 for about 40-45 minutes of work. Does anyone know if there is a way to change the pick up radius so that I only get pinged for resturants that are closer? I would be happy driving 10-15 minutes but 20+ is way too long to go without getting paid.

I think this forum has mostly Uberx drivers. You could always ignore the pings that are too far away or do they penalise you for that?
The app doesn't do pings for Eats anymore, you automatically get assigned jobs - if you don't want a job you have to cancel now. I'm on a scooter and the 20 minute trips don't bother me too much, they're not that frequent on the north side and I'll typically get in 2-3 jobs per hour for $23 or so pre-tax depending on stacking.

My bigger peeves at the moment are being assigned jobs across the harbour - it appears that if you're in McMahons Point the app thinks you're in Zone 1 and assigns jobs accordingly - and the changes to rates.

Forget uber eats. It's not practical in a car. Finding somewhere to stop to pick up a passenger is hard enough let alone parking while you run someone's noodles in. It's a job for bikes and scooters. As you said 8 bucks for 45 minutes.
Wow !!!
Do tell us if your still earning $8 an hour in six months time because I'm getting $25 to $30 an hour by choosing to deliver in an area with surge on the North Side , interesting comment from Lane Cover about being assigned jobs in Zone 1 , Ive never had that happen to me, as for parking I park wherever I can and get away with it , no complaints , no fines hassle free most of the time, it's more to do with having a CAN DO attitude I think , anyway it works for me. Im Happy :)

When did the surge come in the north side for eats it always the boost and since then they have removed newtown glebe surry hills and darlinghurt from the boost sucks now
Surge /boost , yes its Boost and it covers all areas north of the harbour bridge if up for the trip, I find restaurant parking better in this area once you get to know it well , plenty of parking in nearby car parks and lane ways

Ignore the ping and you will get a closer one.
exactly ignoring the ping works , finding the most popular restaurant and parking out the front of it works even better

BTW, what is uber's cut for EATS. They don't say on the website. Anyone know whether there is any demand in the N shore for weekday lunch?
log on in crows nest , plenty of offices ordering in St Leonards , I think Ubers cut is the $5 fee and about 35%of the order total.

happy to avoid pax spewing all through my car though

yes you do get penalised for avoiding a ping , my experience has been that the person at Uber allocating the delivery request gives you a long distance ping because he something even more rewarding waiting for you , another short distance pick up from wherever your doing dropping the food off can result in a long distance delivery paying between $19 to $21 a drop. You look after the dispatcher he or she will look after you :)

Seems like bikes and cars have different boost areas, this the boost in my app, I registered for a bike, and here's the boost I get:
don't know the answer to this one , I am car registered
