This has happened several times. After declining several lowball UE orders in a row, all of a sudden I get a really good paying order on a short trip. But when I get to the restaurant there’s a problem. The restaurant is closed, or another driver already got the order. Do you think this is just a coincidence? Or is Uber trying to punish me?

Believe me, the algorithm only can punish you by pushing you further back into the queue when it comes to declining orders. It’s purely coincidental that the restaurant was closed and/or another driver picked up the order. I’ve had that happen where a ping comes in, and then I accept the trip, and arrive at the restaurant, and another driver already picked it up. Uber sometimes sends out the same ping to multiple drivers, which has been discussed on here before.

Every time a driver cancels an order because the restaurant is closed and does not call support the order goes out to another driver and a little more money is added to it to try and get a driver to pick it up.

I have never received a request where another driver has picked it up. I'm guessing that happens when a driver is trying to score a free meal.

As stated when drivers cancel the order and do not call support it ping to another driver.

A few weeks back at a Restaurant I arrived to get the order and the restaurant was about to close ( one of those breakfast and brunch places that closes at three in the afternoon ) and I was told the customer had cancelled the order because the other driver took more than thirty minutes to arrive, and I was the second driver within minutes, so I called Uber Support and had them cancelled the order and got that whopping three dollar trip pay...

So the moral of this is if you get an order and it is cancelled or the restaurant is closed then call Uber and have them cancel the order so it will not ping someone like you or I!

Yeah, sure, so I can waste another 30 minutes for three whole dollars! 😐
I can honestly say it has never taken me over 5 minutes to be done with Uber on an Eats order cancel. It takes more time to listen to the prerecorded message twice than it does to get the order cancelled. I have called at least 5 times now.

Also I will say my market is a slow market and pings don't come one after another.

Good for you. Still a waste of time. Move on to a more profitable ping than a $3 phone call.

At peak times getting through to speaking with someone is a waste of time, there's a lot pushing numbers to get to a rep, then hearing their annoying on hold noise, it's best to cancel and move on hopefully the next driver does the same and the next one too so the cycle never ends.

It is drivers like you that keep the ping going and all you have to do is call Eats but many of your prefer to screw the next driver over and then wonder why you get screwed over more often than not!

Ok other driver already pick up the order.
Tell the restaurant to remake the food. It was not delivered yet. They gave the food to the incorrect driver .
Deliver it Get paid. Close restaurant you get paid half the order amount .

It could be a combination that the algorithm is trying to punish you and coincidental. Like others noted, I had orders where restaurant was closed and other drivers didn’t notify Uber, so I’d call in. That happened more on holidays like Thanksgiving for me. So I just started calling restaurants before I even drove to them to make sure they were open.

But I’ve also been punished by the algorithm, so I don’t doubt it could happen. This is Uber we’re talking about, the company with no moral compass, so anything is possible.

You don’t always get paid when restaurant is closed and you drive there. I know it because I experienced it.

Last night was the first time I did not get paid for driving to a closed restaurant. Got there, they closed due to computer issues. Called CUST. (that was my mistake) to let them know restaurant was closed and they would not be getting their order. Before I could call Uber support they cancelled the order. I did not get paid for it. Last time I will call the customer. Will call Uber support first.

That sucks! But my no pay was after calling Uber not customer. I wonder of it depends on which Rohit I’d get.

So far every time I called Rohit to cancel I got paid the $3.00. Heck I even had a double pick up at the same place and the restaurant did not have the items for one of the orders. Rohit still paid me for the order they had to cancel. I was hocked by that one.

You are fortunate them. That wasn’t my experience but every driver has different experiences. Yet in the end, it’s all equal to Uber just sucks. Sorry I’m just not a fond of their abusive and cheating tactics.

Seems to me that someone gonna get blamed for stolen food.

The driver after you may call it in and you were the last driver on record to arrive at the restaurant.

Deactivation for no known reason happens all the time.

Best to call it in to cover your ass.
