This isn't news. The headline should read "Basic Math Showing Some Uber Drivers Barely Making Ends Meet".
I have really enjoyed driving Uber the last few months on weekends. But, my impression is that's it's a great 2nd job or part time job. I don't see how people do it as a full time job particularly in summer when there is way more supply of drivers than demand for rides.
I've read that if you drive an Uber trip less than 10 miles you are losing money. Besides, Gasoline, Maintenance and wear and tear on your vehicle people forget about being compensated for their time and usually don't consider all the deadhead miles driving to and from pickups.Picked up one passenger tonight. Stopped at Circle K on the way to her destination. Waited a few minutes for her to get smokes and then brought her a mile down the road. Made $3.86 cents. I think I'm going home for the night.
