$400 +$14000 costs
blimpy where did you get your info from, what was he/she in for?
I've just Googled it and can find nothing?
I was also made aware from a source that the fine was $14k + $400.

That'll suck if that stands for the rest of them.
Ouch!
Was this a Perth based Uber driver??? JeffaO is normally in the loop so I would take this to be true.
Soooooo the question is will Uber pay it for the driver, or will the poor Uber Driver have to pay it?????
Yeah - I've just checked today's Magistrate Court list but nothing jumps out - it's a serious issue if correct, does anybody have any details?
Could be a rumour mill put out by taxi drivers to try and scare off Uber drivers??
From somewhere else:
I understand that in the magistrates court this morning a Uber driver was fined $400 with $14,000 costs . The magistrate was not happy with all the delays . The drivers name has been withheld as he received a spent conviction. I believe that the charge was "failing to comply with a lawful direction ". The are about another sixty more prosecutions to follow.
$14k costs... I wonder if Uber will be paying that one.

"Failing to comply with a lawful direction." For those that haven't been stopping when the DOT vehicles want you to stop, this might be worth considering.

Could be, but Jeff's s very decent trustworthy guy

Willing to put tonight's volleyball trophy on it.. Fact.

I suspect Uber will/would have done as much as possible to keep this quiet including getting the driver to sign a form that he won't disclose or talk to anyone.

$14 000 because of repeated court appearances because of Lawyer/Uber instigated delays.

Don't worry we have got your back.

No rumour GG, the driver is from Perth. So much for Uber looking after us. Trust me more fines to come. Whatever you do don't run from the DOT officers.

I'm not driving anymore so I have no fear! :) If I was driving I would be a bit woried of any possibility of getting a $14k fine.

Apparently there was an article on The West Australian web site sometime yesterday. However, it was later taken down, which also means that it wasn't in today's printed newspaper.

It was something to do with refusing to provide records for previous bookings.

Dunno... might be worth tinkering with some Google cache searching tonight, but if anyone feels inclined to call DOT and ask about it then please do so.

That sounds like uberblack. SCV's are supposed to keep complete records of bookings. I was asked for my records about 6 mths after driving for Uberblack.

Agreed.

I wonder if Uber will contribute toward any of it?

No-one's got $14k to pay for anything right now.

He was silly for refusing to hand over records.
I knew exactly what they would be looking for so made sure all information I gave them fitted their requirements and I never heard anymore from them.

I thought that the charge was in related to refusing to hand over records?
