I can tell when the apps been updated because I start getting requests for Uber Eats which I always immediately turn off. The other way I can tell is the setting for max volume on ride alerts gets checked. The app doesn't distinguish between speaker volume and Bluetooth volume so if you're wearing your Bluetooth earpiece and a ride request comes in at blast you in the ear.

Try going into developer menu/options on your phone (Google it), and turn on Disable Absolute Volume Control. It has helped with apps that abuse. Note that this is NOT rooting!

If it works then leave option turned on and enjoy volume control the way it should be. If not, then turn back off.

the way I can tell if the app has been "updated" is because most often the app is worse, either with the navigation or showing location on the map or some stupid feature has been added and usually in your face on the top screen. For example, I don't want to see my daily total popping up on the top/front screen everytime I go "online". I want the app to remember my last settings and online with those same settings. Irks the hell out of me. Also, I hate the offline button being moved down the menu. IOW, it use to be on the top/front screen and now you have to get an extra button to get to the "go offline" button. Someone should figure out how to hack and modify this part of the app. I think this was Uber's way of trying to deter drivers from going offline so much, such as to accept a Lyft ride.
