Ok.. so maybe I cant PROVE it, but I have done of 3500 rides and have been Ubering the US Open surfing championships the last 2. This year I was in the area most of the day, or nearby.. when I wasnt close I monitored the map waiting for a surge that never came. There were hundreds of thousands of people converging on Huntington Beach that day, lasting into late night. Not only was the surge in HB almost non existent, other cities at that time had much bigger and longer surges. Of course I checked the pax app to see if it was driver overload, and it was not. Uber controlling the surge is in direct violation of what I believe the rules are.. If I am expected to fight heavy traffic and searcj for pax, I should be properly compensated. When I was downtown near main st. I saw tons of pax on phones looking for rides while I noticed no surge.. Finally I left, not wanting to be part of that, but kept track for most the night, including late night where again.. very, very little surge. They should not be able to do this.. but I know they did. Next time, I will do pirate rides and screw Uber.

I rarely saw it above 1.8x and wasnt worth the hassle imo. That area is tough to pick up, they always say pick me up on main street, heaven forbid walk over to orange or any other spot besides main to make it easier.
