I got my first cleaning fee from Uber from a pax who put their slushy, salty bags on my back seat.

Uber sent me a $20 fee.

But when I was digging through their labyrinth menu system, I noticed a policy change where you have to submit a receipt within three days. Is this true for even this tiny of a cleaning fee?

From what I recall, Uber won’t ask you for a receipt unless: A) you make a habit of way too many cleaning fees B) customer denies they made the mess.

The receipt is only for vomit and only if customer complains or you make too many vommit claims.

I made a vommit claim a couple of weeks back uber didn’t ask me for receipt.

Also, let us know if you notice a freshly baked 1 star on your account as retaliation from the disrespectful customer who put salt stains on your seats.

None yet, but it was an EXPRESS POOL user, so I'm sure the cheque is in the mail. $20 is a fair price for a 1*. My rating would be a lot lower if I got $20 for each 1* rating.

Either way, I consider this a 'forced' $20 tip because PAX couldn't put their napsack on the floor in the (unoccupied) other footwell. 1 minute with wet-wipes and a cloth and leather was back pristine condition. But if I had fabric seats, that would have been some steam cleaning required. I hope the $20 education fee (aka forced tip) teaches PAX to be more careful with their messy belongings.

The last time I filed the cleaning claim they told me that they will pay a maximum of $20 without receipts if the mess worthy of a bigger payout then you need to supply receipts.

If they require a receipt, they'll ask you for it as soon as you send in the request for a cleaning fee. What you hit them with was an education fee. Don't treat a drivers back seat like the a TTC bus. I tossed a land whale out of my call a month ago for putting her feet up on my seats and she was hit with a fee. All drivers need to learn to report ppl like this. I find riders just don't care anymore compared to 3+ years ago when I started.

I'm super happy to hand out 'education fees' -> You don't respect my property, you get educated with your wallet. I'll take the 1*, happily.

I've started doing both since my last Safety check. Lyft has become too saturate for the periods I like to drive, so....
Disappointed, didnt think you would jump ship especially after Sexual Assault report that was only for USA. Only a few of us left on Lyft. Wont finance a company ( Uber ) that cant control Creepy Drivers.

Right  Because no Lyft drivers have been charged with sexual assault? At least Uber is being transparent about it. Where is the similar report from Lyft?

Are you male or female ? Lyft is just as bad but much smaller company. They arent transparent. They lie just as much as ever. They just have to report more because of Wall Street. Shareholders are holding their balls now. They prevented the Assault report from coming out around IPO time in April.

I don't see how my gender is relevant. Taxi cab drivers have been assaulting pax since the beginning of time. This is a non-story.
