Last Friday I had 3 consecutive trips back to back from 3-7pm until UBER pulled a fast one. While on the second trip of 3 to Cosmo...Uber pings me from Cosmo for a pickup all the way at South Point during rush hour 6pm. The ping said 20 min away. I thought that has to be a mistake...I let it expire. I got an immediate 3rd trip out of Cosmo to MGM...After the dropoff I saw that i did not qualify for the CTB. Uber knew I would not except the ping thus not having to pay me the whopping $4 CTB. No way I'm driving to South Point for a pickup for what's supposed to be a bonus $4. freakin Uber and their BS. Anyone have similar BS stories?

I am sure this happens to all Uber drivers. I just completed an airport drop off, and got a request to the Palms. Declined it, and CTB was gone. Then I get a request to the MGM, which is where I was headed anyway. I will not drive any distance to pick up a pax. Uber is pretty damn smart trying to get drivers to chase the CTB. F-that.

Happened to me twice. One leaving the airport and the 3rd of CTB at downtown and second was the Uber eats. But last night I got Uber eats on the 3rd, I cancelled with the reason "I don't want to do Uber eats" and CTB still there.

They do this always on the 3rd linked trip. When you get that far away ping (if you want to save that DF you only get 2 ) accept the ride and immediately call/txt telling them why you can't drive there , make up something . And then say if you cancel now you won't be charged , and my apologies . After they cancel it will reset back to 2/3 (pax cancels do not break the series ) and shortly after that you'll get a normal distance ping to complete your ctb. Good luck

Now that is a definite screwjob. Plenty of open drivers closer. I know for a fact that more than a few stage at or close to the Rio and Palms. I have staged at Rio to escape the strip crap. Used to be a fair place to stage with restroom close and that is important to me these days.

Not as bad as yours. Dropped SLS, got Outlet North for trip 3. It was actually surging there $3.50 plus the $5 CTP, so I took it.

On Sat, pings were steady. I drop PH at 6:35pm, CTP ends at 7:00pm. I sit for awhile then cruise around...Nothing. At 6:56pm I accept a ping to start a new CTP just in time. Then, I get a pop-up, "Something went wrong" and I lose the ride. Then at 7:01pm I start getting pings left and right. I let them all time out as I drive to Raising Cane's for a dinner break.

The best way to avoid this is to use DF after you have picked up the second rider. Once you see where they are going set the DF for somewhere less than 5 miles away from their drop off that way you don't get screwed. Has worked for me EVERY time!
I don't see how this strategy would prevent getting screwed.
Using OP's example. If you're dropping at Cosmo and set DF to "somewhere less than 5 miles away", say Encore, and the South Point ping was going to Wynn, Uber could have still offered you the ride.

Had one last week where I pick up ride number 2 at mgm. It’s an X ride going to Caesars. As I’m pulling out of garage get my 3rd ping. It’s a pool for MGM! Lol guess he’s gunna be waiting a while....I’m fighting traffic on boulevard and I guess he starts wondering why I’m going in opposite direction and tries to call me. I got a rule that I don’t answer phone when I have a passenger in car, so I decline call. He eventually canceled and I got another request as I’m pulling into Caesars. But that pool dude would have been waiting a solid 30 min.

I answer calls. I wear a headset so my calls are private and I can talk while driving.

Uber actually is stupid for this. While they want to make it hard to get the bonus this creates bad customer service.

I don't think so. Because you would have been going several miles in the opposite direction to get the ride and DF doesn't work that way. All I'm saying is it hasn't failed me yet. Have yet to get a trip more than 5 minutes away doing this.

I can't say for sure, but I wouldn't put it past them.
I don't know the DF algo criteria, but....

I had DF set to Sahara/Boulder on Sat., and I was approaching Sahara/Commercial Center, got a ping from around Palace Station. I ignored it.

Awhile back I had DF set to Red Rock, and I was Spring mountain/Rainbow. Got a ping for Oakey/Decatur. I foolishly went for it and it went to Charleston/Torrey Pines.

Seems backwards to me.

They pay so low who cares? They are low priority for me. Saturday I hit go offline after what I thought was 3 consecutive...I forgot I declined a pool after first pax was aboard and enroute. So, I had two and was informed about breaking the streak...typical Uber crud.
It's this sort of strategy that tells me Uber won't last, but current big dogs will cash on IPO and run with the money, leaving a hoard of employees wondering what happened.
After that last ride...I turned on Lyft and with one ride and tip, I made more than ride 3 and CTB would have paid. I think pax are more apt to tip on Lyft...the tip option is more user friendly.
Without $3+ surge, and a short ride, Uber is a losing proposition. $5 quests...what a joke.
Uber is presently at an all time low driver pay level...but, we know worse could come. I feel sorry for new drivers, especially if with a new car. My car is well worn but still going...7,900 U & L rides.
3CTBs? For $4? Not.
