Great idea, hopelessly executed. Over the whole of Vivid the amount of passengers I had who understood that they could change the colour then hold up their phone with the same colour displayed so I could spot them was precisely - zero.

The Beacons have to be returned as UBER didn’t get the green light to continue with them from RMS past the trial period. They’ll still work to the end of the month .... but MUST be returned then. A big fail for UBER as all they can do now is throw the whole lot in the garbage as they can’t be reused.

Now maybe UBER could be really cool and reduce all driver commissions to 20% in Australia? Hmmm .....

Thanks, but my question was directed rather at Ausois - what's the source for the "didn't get the green light to continue from the RMS" part?
In other jurisdictions overseas, the beacons are issued on a voluntary basis permanently. UBER got permission to use them here during Vivid, I understand the RMS has not extended the use of the beacons here. I guess once they are collected, they could use them again next year ....

This is bullshit...
What FUber needs to do is the same as dominos. A fully detachable sign on the roof sticking out like dogs balls. Lit up in a fluorescent colour which is taller, bigger than taxis and truly stands out. Something that you can see halfway up Pitt street... Not something that you can see 2 cars away...
It's a form of communication with the pax... Which is something that FUber has EXTREME troubles with...

No thanks . We are doing fine as it is without driving around telling everybody you are driving for Uber

Cant they just ship the beacons to other markets?
Yeah, but apparently you guys in FL get paid so little that in the event of the beacon's $100 non return fee being charged there, the entire Florida economy would implode. Consequently, Governor Rick Scott, has been in touch with Dara and made it clear that it is a non starter.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad beacons.

Lol...

I'd never put one on my own car...I'm talking about the Muppets that went down to white bay to get them installed.

Btw iceman, here's a pic of my FUber sticker that's never seen daylight on the back of my windscreen... Plus mine came with extra... Lol
