There are good companies and bad companies and then there is Uber which is possibly the worst company in the world to work for because it has no moral ethics.I think its days are numbered if it follows the path it is on right now and so it should be.
Future historians will look back on this period of Neoliberalism and the likes of Uber as the most dramatic case in point of the dismantling of the social contract in western capitalist democracies. Companies now look to Uber as a role model for how to navigate around labour law and employment standards.
In essence a business strategy built on subversion with the intent to subvert social responsibility but more importantly how to avoid any moral obligation to the nation state. The drivers have been used as cannon fodder and the local and municipal level in cities around the world. Uber found neoliberalism weakest links and drove a wedge into local and regional politics in almost every jurisdiction around the world.
'Grayball', digital surveillance and metadata are now newest techniques of the Fascists' Toolbox. To combat Uber we must as a society fight this Digital juggernaut or face a future of political and digital repression.
