Well guys I've proven it.....

The Airport in my town is geofenced. It is illegal to pick up from my airport. Today I was playing around with the rider app and I noticed that when I put the pin outside the airport there were 10 cars. When I put the pin inside the airport there were two cars.

I kept on doing this throughout the day and I decided to drive to the airport to research. My car disappears when the pin was inside so I tried to track down one of these other drivers.

It took me a while but I finally found two cars parked next to each other. it was actually a husband and wife duo in separate cars. The husband has been with Uber 2 months the wife has been with Uber 6 months I showed them how when I put the pin inside the airport her car disappeared and I put the pin outside the airport both cars were there he is charged 25% and she is charged 20% commission.

She told me that he gets requests 2 times more than she does and they park next to each other all the time.

Now I know that it has been discussed before. But with the commission structure this makes it even more unfair.

Then when you also factor that Uber just sent me a Thanksgiving email stating that pick up from the airport was illegal and they would not pay for any tickets. Then they allow the new drivers to recieve pu requests from the illegal airport. Are they taking advantage of the newbs?

Will this husband always have a preferential status or will it go away after a few more months?

Prove it yourself go to any illegal geofenced airport and play with the pin you will see.

This is no surprise. This is how they hook new drivers. Its like gambling. You win big at first and then while you're on a high you slowly give it all back convinced that the next hand you'll win big again. Soon you're mortgaging your house and selling your possessions trying to hit it big once more but you never do.

Confirming your employer is f***ing you and your time is better spent elsewhere is FAR more valuable monetarily in the long run than just trusting, keeping your head down, and doing as you're told.

The commission doesn't have anything to do with preference. 2 months does, Uber will give new drivers preference. Its a learning curve.

The husband and wife were both very nice. I gave them some pointers and they appreciated the info I provided. (She didn't know.)

They were parked outside the airport and said they thought it was legal. I let them know it wasnt.

All the negativity directed at me with the responses. I'm prodriver and I'm just trying to help.

I actually think the most interesting part of my research is that you can now figure out who's a special/new driver on the pax app.

This gives some insight into ubers app programming and I think this wasn't done on purpose. I think they forgot to restrict access to this "other" class of driver.

BTW I made 2 legal p/u's down there and made some $, I wasn't just wasting time.

It would be enough to get me moving on to something else. If that's not enough for him it might be for someone else. Just because YOU don't find it valuable doesn't mean others don't.

Sooo you're going to ignore the fact that Uber treats drivers as employees and that the majority of the driver community here that work for Uber and have first hand experience agree because...no one here has the resources to go out and find and poll thousands of drivers across the world...? There are certain things you just have to take as true when the evidence points that way, man. Such as believing the Earth is round despite not having gone into space and seeing it for yourself.

Well guys I've proven it.....

I tested your pin method on Ft Lauderdale Airport a few mins ago and some of the cars in the Uber geo-zone outside the airport appear to disappear when the pin is moved into the center of the airport as you described. I can't say it is for the reason you described or something else however. But it is an interesting observation. My next recommended test would be to park in the same location as the cars that don't disappear and see if that is the reason or not. That would verify if the geo-zone is screwed up.
