Uber people in Singapore:
I read all your disappointing post and want to perk you guys up a bit.
Originally I was also trying to find a vehicle and thinking if I should try for Uber.
Then I found this car rental (Website name Tribecar) that does hourly car rental at $0.50 - $1.00/ hr
No other cost involved except the security deposit at 50 which is refundable
Cars are also at the MRT location for easy collection.

This is whatever you do, then you can earn.
Check them if you like to!

This is likely to be a very new company and it is setting unrealistically low rates as a means to attract new members and create publicity. It is hard to imagine how such a business can be viable in the long term given the extremely low rates and the very high set-up, running and maintenance costs of a rental car business, especially in Singapore. True enough, there is this clause stated in its website says that the rates are applicable only during this trial period and they may increase as the demand increases.

They might be some start-up having money to burn? Anyway no matter what, the hirers are the one gaining benefit now for with such programs. I wouldn't mind and maybe quit if their prices are ridiculously high eventually.

Dun anyhow rent car to work
Insurance coverage might be diff
If Tribe is approved on the Uber platform then insurance and all would be legit.

Let's wait and see if this is indeed the case.

Nevertheless, Tribecar's business model (i.e. car sharing + Z10) is a world's first and so expect some teething operation problems during the first year or so since there isn't a current model to benchmark or established practices to follow.

Cheaper than renting a bicycle at East Coast Really Budget
hahaha.. I laughed so hard... this is really a funny line. [thumbs up]

As for the topic..

- I really hope it's true [would be a life-saver for many U/G drives everywhere, if enough cars].
- Do some simple maths and your spidey-sense will tell you this model is unworkable?.
- When something is too good to be true...

But let's hope my natural apprehensive instinct is unfounded and there are no hidden cost and clauses in the contract. :)

Guess the only way to find out is if some [recognizable in this forums and not a 'newbie' with 1-2 posts] bro/sis would actually try/rent one..

if it is legal to use for GC/U, and no other string attached, even $2 per hr still worth it. if driving during peaks, 10 hrs only $20 ! Altis is just good enough, I expect QQ!

Pls find out more info for us to switch!

lol, this newbie here is feeling so satisfied with the cheap rental and earning! I did from 0730 - 1400 and earned about 120 after petrol and rental :) Hee
