So took my corrolla into the shop because my back right passenger handle wouldnt let people out. I thought that I would have something in the drivers seat to engage child locks so I assumed it didnt have them. tlTook it in and they didnt know what the issue was either. Scheduled an appointment for today and it was going to cost an hour of labor for taking the panel off and figuring out what mechanism was broken or disengaged. 140 for the labor and any replacement parts. Get to the appointment today and the mechanic goes oh your child locks are engaged we missed it last time. Guess I should have read my owners manual more closely as the child lock can only be engaged by opening the door and flipping a button on the inside of the door. i am an idiot. You guys can roast me if you'd like, i deserve it.

I have to say though, it was nice that the mechanic apologized and felt stupid. He told me he felt dumb he didnt see it right away the first time. apologized to me multiple times.

haha no the mechanic was stupid and he let me know that. He honestly felt aweful, but didnt get charged so it is what it is.

Most cars have an actual switch on the door down below the latch mechanism:

I've never seen one on the driver's side door.
