I live in a small Texas city and I used to do quite well with Uber. Now it seems there are more drivers than riders. Employment opportunities here are very slim and I am having anxiety. Does Uber take EVERY applicant no matter the size of an area? There is nothing here promoting Uber either. I had one rider tell me he asked Siri if Uber was available here, "She said yes so I downloaded the app". So again more drivers than riders because folks don't know its here and some still don't know what it is.

Pretty small market to have more than a few drivers in. I thought mine was small at roughly 4 times your size. As for drivers. Rough economic times will bring out more drivers. As for awareness. Post the information on Facebook? Take flyers to Banks, Medical centers, auto repair shops? You are probably on your own.

Look for long haul opportunities. Have a plant in town that has folks from surrounding communities working? Find out the shift changes and sit close, you might get lucky.

Download the rider app, make sure you are never surrounded by the other drivers. Chances are, they will get the pings before you.

Hope this helps.

How do you know the rider to driver average? Only way I can see that is watching the airport queue here. Not doubting there are to many drivers, but it's really hard to tell if there are more or less drivers today, than 6 months ago. Easy to see less pings and rides and business decline. But is that due to more drivers? Or less riders due to "summer activities".

Summer is coming. Things tend to slow down unless you are in a tourist area. People vacationing. Schools out. NBA (at least here) is done. Football not until September. People walk more in the nice weather (and here have scooters/bikes for rent). etc etc. Dog days of summer are upon us.

My habits during summer change. Concert season is here and that gives good $$ for me on those days. And with nice weather I enjoy doing more food delivery (chance at higher pay with U/L than delivery, but keeps me busy).

Good advice, except I would never do ubers advertising. Long hauling will eventually get you deactivated (if you are referring to adding miles onto a trip). Long trips are decent (45+) those are usually trips to the airport for me. I think the threshhold people are willing to pay to go to the airport in my market is about 40 miles.

Rider app is very important to see where the other drivers are. After I drop off a pax, I don't usually move unless it's residential and I will look like a stalker. If I see other drivers near me on the rider app after the drop off, I move to a better location.

I think we are both talking about doing long trips.

As for advertising, I don’t know, Facebook is free, hanging cards around town is also promoting your own business. Would I? Probably not, but in that small of a market?

I work in a similarly sized market and what I've found is that people will join Uber figure out there isn't enough riders to justify how many drivers and will stop driving. Sometimes you just gotta ride it out. Also driving Uber and Lyft is a must you can't make anything with just one of them but with both going you can do decent. Also do Uber eats if possible and that will help get more fare's as well.

That and get on even more apps like Grub Hub if possible. It's not uncommon to run multiple phones/tablets if that helps keeping things organized. I have two older Androids and an iPhone and each can run an app if I wanted. Eats/X on the iPhone and GrubHub on the Android.

Employment opportunities are slim in Texas? That is a first.

Same problem in Spokane, WA. the amount of waiting time between ride requests with Uber is increasing. On Fri/Sat night upwards of half the traffic in the downtown area are rideshare drivers. It's getting ridiculous.
