With summer approaching and the "Snow birds" headed back north I turned on my app yesterday and waited for a ping........ and waited...nothing for an hour. Ok let me check the rider app in Bradenton to see how many cars are in my area. WOW!!! 8 cars downtown 2 in Palmetto 3 out east!!! What??

Furthermore Sarasota had 4 at SRQ(and it was an hour before the first arrival) 9 Downtown and several scattered around various parts of Sarasota county.

Folks this market can't sustain those numbers. Especially this time of year. What's the answer? Well like all things they will correct themselves in the long run. In the short run some of us will fail the see the problem before it's too late. It may take a while but you will eventually understand Uber makes its money on recruiting DRIVERS not on recruiting riders!

Strange as that may seem its true! All you see is driver recruitment ads. Asking you to recruit your friends for a pittance. As a driver that has been in this business for almost two years, you must understand you have to stop recruiting!! If you plan on making this a sustainable business for yourself you must protect it for yourself!!! Don't fall for the lazy lure of what seems like easy money!! The devil is always in the details!!!!!

Totally agree.... But ...

It doesn't cost Uber one cent to put you on the road as a Driver, or 10000000000000000000 Drivers.

If they have 10000000000000000 Drivers on the road, do you think they REALLY care ?

They gain nothing less putting a billion Drivers out there... it's good for them because it means, a Driver is 'close by' a rider every time... which means, higher turnover per time ! ... It's like Coca Cola having a vending machine every corner of this planet, except that Uber doesn't have ANY cost in having every Driver every corner of this planet.

If you were the owner of Uber, would you do the same ?? haha

They have to constantly recruit more dummies because the statistics show that within a year 50% of drivers quit - I lasted 2 months of picking up passengers -uber has to keep recruiting because they know there is a sucker born every minute- any minimum paying job is a much better option than being a uber driver- if you ever went to one of those green light introductions to uber you will find out quick those guys are all full of bullshit - they make you think your gonna make so much money when really all you will to is drive around like an asshole all day and make peanuts lol

It's highly probable that Uber is recruiting a shitloads of new drivers now on the 25% royalty to flood the city. This would :
1) frustrate the older drivers who's paying 20% and they would just leave the platform through natural attrition,
2) and thus replace the majority of drivers with 25%.

Wouldn't be surprised but does it makes sense ?
