I started to fill out the Join page, until I got to the bottom. Then I saw the following at the bottom. Does anyone have any idea where I can read these bylaws?
Also, I'd really be committing (agree") myself to participate in the "sanctioned activities"!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Really? What? When? How often? Why would anyone agree to such a vague statement ?

Membership Agreement
By agreeing to join TNC Drivers United, you agree to participate in TNC Drivers United (TDU) sanctioned activities and you agree to adhere to TDU bylaws adopted by the membership.

I just read some of the mission statement and bylaws. TDU seems like it wants to form a union. The only problem is all the TNCs are nonunion. I think you'll find this to be an incredible waste of time.

I dont really see the point.
Are they going to make pax ping me more often? Nope
Are they going to make pax drive them out to Leander at SUV rate? Nope

So what do they really do for me?
What they are trying to do is get the city to agree to a Driver's Bill of Rights ... that includes:
  1. Minimum Fares for every class ... so TNCs cannot drop fares whenever the wind blows
  2. Written guidelines for driver deactivation
  3. Appeals process for deactivated drivers
  4. etc ...
It's a long shot ... but considering that we (drivers) have absolutely no representation ... it's better than nothing. We had nothing before and that resulted in 5 income reductions in 1 year, obviously hurting the X driver more than any other class ...

Ziggy, thank you for the clarification. Our priority was to make the Bill of Rights, since that was asked for by the Mayor/City Council. We will be having a discussion on the Bill of Rights and other issues tonight at Rio Rita (7pm, 1308 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78702), Everyone is more than welcomed, the following week we will vote fill the open positions on the Board and vote on the Bill of rights. Things are moving fast, we have a meeting with the City Council next week so I encourage anyone interested to be part of this change to join ASAP. The membership agreement will be written soon, if you join now, you will have input in this matter.

I cannot understand why anyone would want to EXPAND the ATX Ground Transportation Department. Great Scott!!!

Moreover, I don't see how the city could possibly have any role in such a thing, especially as they have been getting hammered to back away from VFH regulations. At best, they could probably require the same contractor requirements they force on existing companies.

The ONLY way the city could regulate such a list would be to expand their office, AND regulatory presence considerably. That's going to come with a major price tag.

As for representation; as independent owners, you all represent yourselves. That's the design, that was the "innovation", right? Each TNC driver is an "entrepreneur", with "freedom" to work for themselves. That's why TNCs got a special ordinance section. They weren't like existing VFHs, remember? TNCS were just platforms connecting entrepreneurs with passengers. 13.2 could not apply to this new concept. Blah blah :)

Be careful with your wishes. The monster you'll be feeding is already incompetent and power hungry.
