Why do we need to be careful with TLC police in Long Island? Before Uber came to NY suburbs, NYC TLC drivers were working in LI illegally so they needed to be careful with TLC officers. This is not the case anymore. One NY suburbs (private plate) drivers get LI pings which is completely legal. So why do you guys need to be careful with these TLC cops? Am I missing something?

Those rats still want to shake the drivers down. Those scabs at plandome, mineola and all over don't like uber drivers

who exactly are TLC police? Are they regular Nassau and Suffolk county police who work in the TLC devision?
What are there powers?
What are drivers rights, do we need to show them what they ask for?
Do they have more power on train station property vs across the street?

Basically Nassau tlc police works for nassau county and it is not regular police. They usually stand at busy places such as train stations or malls. There job is to give tickets to uber drivers for not displaying uber sign properly or for other minor things such as obestration of view. Back in the days we use to get tickets for point to point pick in Nassau I don't know what they give ticket for now. The ticket ranges from $750 to $1400 on first offense and add another $750 for third offense and so on. You can't escape the fine as you have to show up in court in Mineola. Uber used to reimburse that money I don't know the current situation if they still do. NASSAU tlc can give u ticket anywhere in nassau county not necessarily train stations if u get caught. Most of the time they prey the drivers at busy locations such as train stations and so on. NASSAU TLC doesn't like uber it is there way of making money.
Suffolk county is safe never had any problems.

is a driver required to stop for them?
is a driver required to give them drivers license and answer their questions?
Yes u have to stop , they have the power to tow ur car or if u try to run they can right ur plate # and can send u a summon in the mail. They usually work in a group of 2 or 3 people. They can even follow u if u tried to run on their black undercover shevy. They are operated by Nassau county so they do have power. I am telling u from my past experience If those things r still implemented. I am not trying to scare anyone just sharing my experience.
They can't do anything anymore to ny tlc drivers
They can't do anything anymore to ny tlc drivers
Of course they can. I was stopped a couple weeks ago picking up in Nassau going to JFK. They told me there's a few guys who got a 2nd NY Suburbs accounts with NY TLC Plates, so they get tickets just the same as before.

But if you are clean and just dropping off or doing the right thing they can't do anything and you really don't have to stop . There is nothing they can do they have nothing to do with us anymore since uber won't give us pings

They ticket drivers if their windshield sign isn't lit up and then issue another ticket if your phone holder is anywhere under your rearview mirror, claiming it obstructs your view.

That is the most backwards and misinformed logic, you're crossing into their jurisdiction, if you're like you say "clean" and only picking up and dropping off in Nassau you still have to stop for them, but more than likely you'll be just fine, they'll check your credentials, as they did with me, and you'll be on your way in a minute.

Also like i mentioned in my post, NCTLC told me they check NY TLC Drivers because they've come across quite a few of us that Uber apparently approved a 2nd account for Long island, but with our TLC Plates, so they're still working illegally.

Once again they can no longer police us if we are dropping off. Only NYC tlc can or a real cop. Now if they witness us doing something illegal that's a different story but remember Nassau tlc are. It real officers like NYC tlc are
If the TNC law is written that the sign must be reflective and/or illuminated, and yours isnt.. well that's considered doing something illegal.

Once again you're confusing two different distinctions. If you're only picking up OR Dropping off in Nassau can they ticket you for that? of course not

But are you obligated to stop and give your credentials upon request? YES. Can they ticket you for other stuff, like a broken tail light? or speeding etc? YES. I've had friends run from them and get tickets in the mail, so trust me, you want to stop.

Unfortunately drop-offs and pickups at the train stations with NYC TLC plated car is a red flag and they can and will pull you over. You are basically telling them you are taking or just brought someone from a nearby location and you will have to show your waybill to proof otherwise. NYC TLC plated car is a TAXI and the NY State law prohibits them from doing local jobs. Simple as that.
You guys know nothing about laws
And technically any unmarked car you don't have to stop you can keep driving and contact the police to send over a marked car . Just keep driving and let them follow you into queens. They can't do anything to NYC tlc cars unless they picked up illegally . They can't ticket for anything else. Before it was different but things have changed.
