I know, I know. Tipping has been flogged repeatedly. But, I'm wondering what your experiences have been lately and whether you have noticed any trend either way.

We all know that tips are "not expected" in the Uber world but it used to be that 2-3 months ago I would at least get some every weekend, even if they only totaled $10-$15. I felt there was a growing awareness of this issue and that tipping might become more prevalent. Stupid me. Then over the past month over dozens of rides I literally had not received a single tip until last night and then had a couple nice tippers ($20 and $10).

Btw, I've gone with the old-fashioned priming the pump by having several singles and a fiver prominently stuffed in the cupholder of my center console (hint, hint).

Used to get a tip about 10% of the time. Now, it is nearly zero.
Lyft tips about 33% of the time.

I got a tip from a pax that said she thought the tip was included in the app, and asked me if it was. I told her it wasn't, and she said, all those years she's used Uber, she always thought it was included. She felt really bad about those years.

I had that they even tell me if uber would just give them a way to tip on the app they would .i understand that i never have cash on me so i would not be able to tip my self

In all those years she never thought to ask one of the hundreds of other drivers? Seriously? She was playing you Sure . They do that.

Yea, they say that too. Next time call their bluff and offer your cash.me or square reader. See what kind of response you get. They're playing you dog. A real gentleman does not go out in the big city without a little "grease" in his wallet.

Got a 20 spot last week after I dropped a couple off in the loop. As she was getting out, she said she'd leave me a good tip on the app. I told her that you can't tip on the uber platform, only lyft. She then asked her husband or whatever for a 20 and gave it to me

I got $20 today because someone spilled some beer in my car. Cleaned it up myself. Not really a tip though. Although I was super thankful because I expected less. Tip really shouldn't even be in your vocabulary as an uber driver
