I am more curious how and when flat rate will convert over and pay more. At this point, it sounds like the XL drivers who are being denied the right to choose their platform are getting screwed yet again. From my understanding the higher platforms have a higher Prime amount. Since we can't go online with XL only we are only getting the basic Lyft Prime, which is a smaller dollar amount. In addition to that, the premium platform rides come in at a slower rate. which allows time for the prime to build up to a higher payout amount. So for the drivers who don't have the ability to choose platforms, our Prime won't build up as high and we also have a higher chance of losing the prime because of denying a basic or share ride request. It'll be interesting to see if my XL requests start coming in more frequently after denying a ride and losing my Prime?.

I also don't see why they're removing your choice to have XL only, Does this mean were employees and not independent contractors who get to make our own choices ?

So here's another interesting thought. Uber implemented this flat rate surge under different terms, in regards to us drivers. It's been two years since they removed our commission from our agreements. As far as I know, Lyft and us drivers still have an agreement of 80/20 or 75/25. granted they have now the variable platform fee. So does that mean all this extra money they're going to be making is going to be listed under the service fee? Because there's no way we'll be getting 75 or 80% now

No way are you serious? that almost seems impossible, which market are you in ?
He's here in Denver.

So I took one ride tonight that had a $13.50 surge attached. I denied like 20 rides trying to get an XL but they wouldn't give me one. I was monitoring the Primes and at one point it was at 150%. Our Prime was only paying out a $1.65. I denied 20 of those requests. I saw it get up to 400%! Then I had a ride and couldn't keep with it but still, that's ridiculous. This morning or yesterday morning, I don't remember exactly but Lyft XL was charging a hundred and ten bucks to get to the airport from downtown. Our Prime payout $0.

I definitely hope you make more money ,I think it's only fair if Lyft starts paying us more.
He was reading your quest challenge from your screenshot that you took on your phone. He was saying your ride Quest is not very good LOL

So what are everyone's thoughts as to the new personal power zones and our partner agreements? Are they going to list all of this extra Revenue under the variable platform fee? We're still in are 80/20 or 75/25 contracts as far as I know

I love them! You don't have to sit in them. Of if you drive straight through you will get the amount originally shown. If you sit in it it will increase to a maximum, at any time you can leave and get bonus on next ride. At 1:30am was about to head downtown, when one popped up in Sheridan? No demand and no other cars, 5 minutes away. It started at $19.19 in the purple & $24.53 in the pink(I am regular Lyft), I turned off driver mode and made a beeline that way, as soon as I hit the pink I turned back on. Zone maxed out at $34.59. After 20 mins. Got a $6.11 6ride(which now paid $40.70. (Total time:45mins. Total distance: 12 miles. Rider paid $10.30). Also got $6 on a stacked ride.(I had no clue til dropoff, just a free $6. Wed. Ate lunch in a zone til it maxed at $12.63 then received a 2.8 mile, $3.75 ride(which I now received $16.38 for) Sweeet! Rider paid $7.50.

However; Thursday 3am, left shotguns to get in zone at Yosemite&Leetsdale: maxed at $12.63. I didn't know I could leave, at 3:15 received a scheduled pickup for 3:30. Rider was a no-show, when I hit no-show, i got the $10 cancel fee, but the app took me out of driver mode(so bye-bye bonus) Help desk says I was in last-ride, I wasn't, outcome pending.(I was pissed!l). Only problem I've had.(when customers cancelled a couple times, bonus carried over to next ride.

Not a bad strategy if they don't ever want there surges or primes to convert. Typically speaking the to companies watch 4 repeated behaviors and will alter things accordingly. Sounds like they already are with him being "out of driver mode". My guess is, up next his rides will be coming in a lot quicker

Leaving DIA this morning, I was checking my text messages, Lyft was running in the background and it chimed, when I opened it up, it told me to stay in the "Pink Zone" for a bonus increase, I parked at Final Approach, by the time it was done, the bonus was $6.80. Hung out for 15 minutes, noting popped, headed towards town, finally got a request going from 6th and I-25 to Alameda and Sable, the ride was $4.08, the bonus made it $10.88. I was happy.
