This is actually insane. Help!
Yesterday, I made 11 dollars in 2 hours...today, 3.61 in an hour. Drove through the loop, edgewater, west suburbs...not a single ping. Is the app down or is it just that slow with students being back in school? How do I combat this? Car note due on Friday so I need to make something shake. Help pleaseeeeee

Nothing apparently! lol I was online...well I went home after an hour online and only a couple bucks made. Then I went out and tried it again. Only got a trip from the medical district to the southsideWTF !

I've noticed lately that I get more pings on destination filter (I usually set it about 40 miles away from where I am) than off of destination filter. Maybe try that now that we have six of them to use it works out much better too. But it still is ridiculously slow compared to what it used to be.

I only drive part time in evenings during week usually 6pm to midnight or 1 am. Usually will do about $120-$140 during that time period. The last few weeks have been struggle. You need a few good rides during the evening to help anchor the night.It might be the time of day...might have to burn the midnight oil.

All this time who knew you could get 12 rides completed in 2 hrs 45 minutes? All X no pool. 1 a $6.00 tip for round trip to pick up soup for a sick mom. All short hops like 6 or 7 minutes, longest was 12. Works well WHEN the pings come from where you headed back anyways.
Pissed one lady Veronica off though. Not my problem. Call us when you are ready, not while still in the shower or gettin dressed. Pulled up on P street, rider notified, now charging for wait time, you may cancel rider. Call Veronica she says he be out in A minute. Waited 3 more, slid that cancel rider no show, pulled two blocks away but closer to my home.
I get my 2nd request for Veronica on P street. Pull up at 13817 see same garage door open as last time same. Rider notified. I dont call this time, just a toot on the horn. App says charging for wait time. The second app said you may cancel BAM did that now for the 2nd time. Drive away and allow for a couple blocks to get me out of rider block and Sure! I'll take another 2 minute request. Now I don't call, text or honk. I just watched the charging for wait time and hit cancel no show the very second it allowed me so.
So I got it counted as 0 trips taken and 3 cancel fees all within 12 minutes or so $3.75 x3 = $11.25.
Then I get the dumb*ss one more time as uber x 2 min away and take the guy who now is perched outside waiting this time..Took him 6 minutes away to work Jewel/Osco. He had asked if I had been out earler and I just lied and told him Uber times itself out after a certain amount of time. So i end up with $10.50 for 3 cancels and then about another $8 in a fare
Learn the hot spots and stop getting mad after 10 minutes and no ride

DaCoach has it right. I keep spreadsheets. No matter how I fudge the numbers. Including gas, maintenance (which i do all of myself), depreciation, damage by pax's that arent covered ($75.00 per month) My break even cost is 55 cents per mile. It's a 07 and gas @ $2.30 per gallon @ 20 miles per gallon. To achieve minimum wage in Chicago. I need to make 75 cents (roughly) per mile. Fight for 5 is alive. Especially if you don't do your own maintenance.
