Wasn't able to make my car payment, and just able to make my car insurance because of my mom's help, but rent is due tomorrow and Uber definitely isn't paying the bills.

I'm a senior in college and left my job at Starbucks to start searching for career opportunities that are more toward my field of study. I thought Uber would help me through my senior year, but I'm struggling bad(And before you ask, yes I already tried going back to Starbucks).

I live in Los Angeles, so I'm just thinking of making a sign(truthful one-need $625 for rent), finding a busy intersection and seeing if it pays off more than uber.

What do you guys think? Also what legal aspects should I know? It's not illegal, right?

My pride is already gone, so I figure I have nothing to lose.

This experience with Uber could become more valuable to you then any Quantum Physics course you take. Partnering up with (contracting for) Uber will teach you everything in business not to do.

Very true. Although because I have good morals, I never would conduct business the way Uber does anyway.

So sorry to hear your predicament. I know exactly what it was like to be a struggling college student.

Since you have experience as a barista, how about working at Peet's Coffee or Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf?

What area of study are you getting your degree in? Have you done your internship yet? It is the key to getting your foot in the door at companies.

I thought startbuck employee made good money? Like 15$? Shit I'd quit uber in a heart beat to work for Starbucks and get benefits.

Why didn't Starbucks take you back? I heard they pay pretty well and have benefits. I'd drop uber in a heart beat for Starbucks. Might apply soon actually.

A friend of mine here in LA had to leave overseas and Starbucks wouldn't give him the time off. So he quit. When he came back, they wouldn't hire him and it was very difficult to deal with other locations because they have the same district manager.

Getting to the point, here in LA atleast, if SB blacklists you, you will never work in this town again.

Wow didn't know that. Is it tough getting a job there? I'm sick of my day job which involves driving followed by more driving with uber.

with the rates the way they are...

I have no doubt that you can generate as much if not more per hour without the anywhere near the expenses if you engage in panhandling.

As far as the legality, you would have to consult someone familiar with California law. It's a whole 'nother country when it comes to the law, as all states are.
