Thinking of Moving

Where is a good city to move to and do Uber? I feel like I need a change of scenery. Open to go anywhere. I have been Atlanta too long.

Dallas tx it's were I started with uber. Only con is toll roads lots of them. Pros better traffic management 2 airports massive area plenty of demand. No state income tax.

Ill hopefully be moved to Dallas in a month. Wont need uber much but i may do it for a few days as a way to get to know the city. I heard from the Dallas board that recent deregulation caused massive saturation. I like the idea that its a massive area that covers all the way to fort worth.

Good luck to you. 3 tips.
1 get a garage or covered parking hail storm damage in dfw is a major factor.
2 get airport permits asap. 1 from Dallas for love field one from dfw airport for itself. You need Dallas one before you can get dfw one.
3 American airlines center is a great place unless you are an uber driver. If going there take dart rail don't drive. Go Dallas Stars.

Im a cowboys fan, already made a savings account for tickets this season. :confused:

I wont be driving much, but ill probably get the permits just in case.

I may upgrade to an SUV because i feel i need the space personally, gonna make it XL/Select qualified nust in case i do need Uber more than expected. 2014 MDX is top of that list.

Ill probably be more on the Fort Worth side, ya like it out there?

I lived in Dallas for 2 years. Many things about it I liked and continue to miss. However my family that lives in the USA is here. Plus dfw food was a little bland for me. I like good asian, Indian curry proper Italian pizza in addition to my burgers steak and mexican. Dfw has some good foreign food but atl has it beat. Try in and out burger, the Londoner pub ( the one in plano/ colony next to Toyota stadium). Final place would be Bjs brewhouse Lewisville. Ha ha ok good on you it's good to have a team to be loyal to.

Stay clear of the hipster/cool towns. Austin, for example (no uber, but they have alternatives) has way too much labor supply. Too many people just want to be in the town and are willing to do BS jobs for the pleasure of being there.

There's actually a city called Auburn? I thought that was a fictional spot where football coaches went to fail. Sure seems that way - Tubberville, Chiszac, Malzahn. Roll Tide!!!!

My daughter graduated from Bama in 06 and I should take offense at the last part of your comment but the truth is the truth in my opinion anyway. Lol

Moved from Denver about 9 months ago due to family issues. Would not be in Atlanta otherwise.

Pluses--

Tips are much better and more common where as Atlanta is "cheapest" city I've ever been in on that account, Denver is very good as in most people (say 80%) tip cash.

Very easy city to get around in, as in a very well organised grid extentding to all the suburbs, streets don't change names for no reason and organized in ways easy to remember. For example, going west from Broadway (000 on the east/west access of the grid) the first 24 streets west are Acoma through Zuni, all in alphabetical order, all named after Indian tribes. I used gps about 10% of the time there where I use it 95+ here.

The sports/concert venues are better organised.

Long trips, as in Denver is kinda an "Island" population wise so you end up with 300 mile trips about twice a year and 50-100 mile trips about once a month. I was a cab driver in college (10+ years pre uber) and once drove from DIA to Custer, SD.

People are genuinely friendlier IMHO. Less race/class consiousness, if that matters to you, as in people are less likely to pre judge you and make assumptions about you based on your skin color/whatever.

Legal Pot-- I do not use. But the culture/pot tourism brings in a lot of business.

Negatives--

Cabs companies are better organized/potent and have a greater part of the market share, as in about 50% versus 20-30 percent here. Alos they are not looked down upon as much, so a driver waiting for an Uber might jump in a Cab if they are in a hurry.

Cost of living is going is higher than Atlanta and the population is booming. Some of that will change as more states legalise.

If you are bored of Atlanta, than going to much smaller markets like the ones you listed would not make much sense.

Nashville. Aka-Nash-Vegas. I hear Uber dribers are killingbit there.

Lots of bars, pubs and good resturants. A very big 'small town'. Lots to do there.

I've lived here for over 35 years. Looking for a change. Major cities have no appeal to me anymore. Been there, done that as the saying goes.
