I drove for Uber during summer last year (was platinum all weeks) as a short term money making gig before other plans kicked in..as soon as summer ended , my earnings fell and I realised the gig was up and moved on to my other endeavours.
I now am in a position where I have to come in to town for 2-3 months and need to make some money and then move on. I eased back into this forum and I gather things are not as rosy as last year and I know a lot of u will say don't do it .But I would like to get some feedback on a couple of things :
1. Given that in the 2-3 months I will do this FT, and I am not a total noob to Uber but not a Jedi master either, can I gross 700$ /week ? assume 40-50 hrs on road.
2. I will also be doing some temporary housing (sublet/month to month stuff) but have total flexibility of location. What would be a good location to position myself for Uber? I have been in the valley (toluca lake/sherman oaks earlier and can go back easily somewhere there) .
3. Any suggestions for other gigs that pays better but can be taken up 2-3 months only ? I can get other jobs that pay more but will require time commitments that I don't want to make. Most FT gigs have a lengthy interview process I don't like taking a FT gig and quitting on them in what could be 2 months.
4. I cant qualify for Uber new driver incentives but can for Lyft. Is that a good option? I keep hear its quiet on Lyft. are those incentives achievable (75 rides)?
