- destination filter jobs pay extra commission
- surge is capped for drivers meaning the customers pays full surge but the driver doesn’t get full benefit
- cannot change rating for rider

Yeah I could imagine a rate drop as part of the main course.
There is a huge disparity between mileage rates, surge etc in the US depending on the market. There is very little uniformity there. One good thing that they have is extra payment on fares that you have to travel more than a certain time or distance to get to the pax and an estimate of the earnings on each trip.. Again, these sensible features are not universal. Having said that, the drivers in California cities are being treated particularly brutally.

Makes you wonder, why still drive? surely there's other work out there...

The surge thing is already in play here. I always thought uber often take surges and don't give it to drivers. I noticed this a few times already, and while I don't chase surges, whenever I'm in the area I rarely ever get them. Out of 900 trips I've had roughly 11-12 surge trips and get like one every couple of weeks

My recommendation is we should all do uber in a part-time base and do not take un-surged trips in a surge area. It is the time to wake up

Uber WILL constantly squeeze drivers.

They will dominate the world ridesharing, when the IPO launches shareholders will want profits.

Drivers will take the hit.

If you are full time Uber- plan an exit strategy.

Start study, plan a business, or get a job.

Be safe out there...

That would be impossible, as they would then be invoicing the customer on your behalf for a larger amount, and claiming to you they paid less, meaning that not enough GST would be paid and Uber (Raiser Pacific) would be committing a criminal offence of tax evasion. This is a bit tinfoil hat.

Flat surge is a possibility though. And upfront pricing (where Uber quotes an amount based on the fare and charges it unless the route deviates significantly from the estimate or a stop is added).

Another we just got is free delivery on Uber Eats if a driver is already passing both a restaurant and you (meaning it can share the order).

Oh, and ordering and paying from Lime scooters from the Uber app.

They are giving you the surge, it is hidden in the flat fee they charge and will only appear separately when the rider changes the destination, adds a stop or the fare is recalculated due to time or distance being longer when applicable.

It's a smaller market here and I feel drivers more assertive and switched on ( exception for the leopard spot sniffing President) plus we have a high social media uptake ...

Think Udder gonna find harder market to milk

knowledge really is power in rideshare so the more drivers on this forum the less power Under has ... so whenever you have a chat to another Ant plug the forum

Hey buddy get the app surge over

You can see the actual surge where U are and when U arrive ...compared to the uber map which is often intentionally misleading

You can get a poober special non surge trip into a high surge area then turn the tables on poober...just before you get the pax check the app if it's a decent surge cancel and most times U will get a surge ...

Dammed good fun as U playing uber at their own game ...they try hard to limit the real information you're getting in other words being deceptive so you will take a lesser fare
