So I just got back from working before a "surge" showed up on the map. Decided I would give it a try and drove ten minutes back the way I came. Surprise, surprise. Surge vanished! It was dark yellow on my way up and then vanished when I got there. No requests ten minutes out on my back up either :/

The lesson is, never chase the surge. Unless its well over 2.5x it will disappear before you get there. You shouldn't be driving dead miles at all really unless the profit to be gained from the ride is at least 2X your carrying cost.
