Someone gave me this code last summer at DTW. It was a group for the uber drivers at dtw to coordinate surge fares. Forgot about it. There has been mention of it. Yes it was and is real.

Rules: I was told rules when given the code.

1. Stay offline until surge is 1.4x. Then let everyone know the surge is 1.4x when u see it, "multiple texts would go thru from people at airport whoever sees it first or whatever."

2. When surge drops below 1.4, chat would go off from people that it was below 1.4x, everyone went offline. You can see it in Rider app. It was pretty sweet. Surge was pretty frequent. Ended up with about 5 to 6 surge rides a day all summer. Most were higher than 1.4x as well. All I did was follow with the 1.4 rule.

3. The more people that use this the better, obviously. Even if you don't care about 1.4x join and watch how it works.

Anyways, because of it being brought up.... Yes it is real.. And here it is.

I still don't get any the fools sit at the airport for peanuts. Especially considering 5 miles down 94 is usually surging anyway. Let the desperate idiots have the airport, they are clueless anyway
As an occasional desperate idiot, I will say I'll take an airport pax any day of the week over the drunks, Friday night douchbags, 1 mile rides because girls don't want to walk in heels, weed smelling millennials, trailer park trash and hood rats.
If I'm by the airport, I tend to go there. Most evenings the queue is less than 20. Wait time is 15 minutes and there's the normal surge times.
But I wouldn't want to do the all day airport rides

Pretty much. Surge will stick around for a good 20 min usually. Unless they manually kill it. 20 offline at airport is a lot more profitable than 20 sitting in queue, this is a must for the dedicated airport people. You guys should talk to each other. Use the kik, or make a new one. Talk to each other and organize DTW. We did that last summer with this chat. We can make any area surge by staying offline. TOGETHER we can make rates whatever we want. Last summer there was 20 people running this app at airport. Do any of you guys remember how often it surged last summer?? Talk to each other.

So who gets the 1.4 rides? It's still first in wins. Say you have 15 riders playing the game, as soon as 15 jump in the queue, the surge is gone, right?
Everywhere you work here in detroit area doing uber you do so for peanuts. And surge only helps if we can get it.

Good point Brother! I'm getting more and more sick of the DTW airport because, like you have pointed out, it almost never surges there and when it does, Uber has this nasty tendency of sending you a ride request from like 8-10 minutes AWAY from the Airport, which (if you don't accept it), they throw you out of the queue and then you lose your place and lose the surge. Question: What "5 mile away" areas are you refering too? Dearborn or down near Taylor? Where exactly? Thanks in advance!

Bro, I am like laughing my arse off to this post! You've summed up a lot of the typical "passenger types" for UberX in this post! Hahahaha!

Yesterday started at noon with a ride to airport, then immediate pickup to Birmingham. Then pickup in Bloomfield hills to airport, then immediate pickup to Ann arbor. Then pickup back back to airport, 15 minutes later back to Ann arbor. Time, just under 6 hours. Payout, $172 before expenses. My point, if you play the game right, it's not bad

Yep I like those types of runs. However after 7pm, you can forget getting a ride to the airport though...
