Travis 'hated' Surge...I've always been confused by comments about Uber hating surge and wanting to do away with it.
Didn't they create it?
Doesn't it benefit them more than anyone else?
And as far as I can tell there's nothing that stops them from just flipping a switch and there not being surge ever again.
Travis 'hated' Surge...
They tried that once, Lyft ended up running at 150PT for a week solid and UBER's ride count dropped to less than half it's normal rate so they put it back up.I pose this question out to the universe. What if uber wanted to shut down the airport shenanigans once and for all and just turned off surge forever inside the geofence. Wouldn't this benefit the select and higher cars?
What if little sister complied and both turds in the punch bowl stayed at base. They tried that once, Lyft ended up running at 150PT for a week solid and UBER's ride count dropped to less than half it's normal rate so they put it back up.
This would require 'price fixing' - which is a bit against things in a capitalist society, but if LAX requested the powers that be to step in, and those powers did, then X prices would increase substantially, and I agree it would help matters across the board. What if little sister complied and both turds in the punch bowl stayed at base.
Or even better. LAX gets sick of the bullshit and dictates the rates to uber/lyft. Lock the price or get the boot.
No cause smart pax will order Select for the same price as a 2.5 surge ride in a Prius. If the cheaper option always stays cheap it won't happen. If there are enough willing ants to drive for base 24/7 even on Thanksgiving, higher level tiers are fawked.I pose this question out to the universe. Lil sista says I'm not welcome at LAX but she sends me pings anyways. Lil sista can go fornicate herself.
What do you mean?
And btw sistas surge cap at lax is....7.
I'll just let that sink in. 7x.
PS sometimes it experiments with surging premier lux and suv separately, so their cap might be "only" 3.5 or so.
Nothing in the lax rule book says I can't take any type of trip so long as I have waybill, transponder, and Trip Ticket in order.I have a sneaking suspicion that they just mean "you need a trip ticket, but we already pay LAX automatically yet it doesnt apply to you and we just dont have the correct mechanism to sort this out"
...although maybe calling LAX anonymously and asking if youre good with a trip ticket and a lyft waybill on TCP would be a good idea
There is a Couple of TCP Lyft Guys Out There Doing it LegitNothing in the lax rule book says I can't take any type of trip so long as I have waybill, transponder, and Trip Ticket in order.
(If I'm wrong someone quote me the chapter and verse)
Lyft just doesn't wanna deal with reimbursing me the trip ticket and booking fee.
The whole point is they aren't a regular business and we aren't employees. So **** em.No cause smart pax will order Select for the same price as a 2.5 surge ride in a Prius. I think Uber's endgame is for them to provide a base fare ride to anyone that wants one at anytime they want it, especially when dealing with younger price sensitive crowds. At Coachella surge was turned off for pax except fwhile Uber paid 2.5 boost to drivers. The pax leaving at the end of the show paid the same as the pax who left early to beat the crowds (and possible surge)
Restaurants charge the same prices whether demand is high or low. They don't increase rates so that people willing to pay more get served quicker. They don't want to lose customers, so they want to provide the same service and prices to everyone, even if it means making them wait longer, since most customers would rather wait than overpay for food. Customers would be pissed if they kept getting jumped in line by people able to pay for the privilege. Employees are paid the same rate whether busy or slow, and they will be offered more hours rather than a higher hourly rate, except for a 1.5 increase for overtime hours.
In other words, Uber wants to treat their customers and workforce the same way a regular business does.
