The 'New and Improved' apps for drivers and riders... ugh!

In the updated RIDER app (both Android and Apple)
The app is not re-initializing the GPS location of the rider.

All week I've been getting ride requests to the wrong address.

The updated app is using the last stored GPS location of the phone instead of checking for the current location.
Riders are opening the app and clicking REQUEST RIDE without noticing where the 'pin' is set.

It's getting riders mad at drivers - and frustrating drivers to no end.

The newly updated driver's app for Android is mostly a disaster.

It 'hangs' when trying to pick-up a rider causing long delays in starting a trip.
It hangs after ending a trip (if it allows you to end a trip) causing delays in getting back online to be available.
In some cases, the app hangs when just trying to GO OFFLINE.

All of the above scenarios require me to reboot my phone,
wait for the GPS location services to kick in
and then open up the Uber app again.

It is so bad that I am reluctant to go back on the road for Uber until these things have been corrected.

I use Android, so i havent seen too many bugs. Most issues i have seen are caused by server side. Uber must have found a warehouse full of 386 chips to use in their machines.

i few riders told me they updated the rider app on sunday. funny thing is they both had 5 stars, i hope they didnt reset all riders ratings that update.
What's with the "Last trip banner on your map? It's completely in the way. It might serve a tiny purpose if it appeared briefly, but not much.

So, used the updated app for the first time today. Had no idea how to start the ride. Once I managed that, I was unsure if it had started or how to end the ride. I stopped the car in the parking lot while the passenger was in the car while I figured it out. I paused only for 15 seconds...still was unsure but told the passenger I would figure it out after I dropped her off. She was 20 miles away. After the trip, the fare was $28.15. She was very disappointed because the fare is always "in the $27 dollar range". So sorry it was $.50 more, lol.

I hear that.

I just started driving for Uber at the start of the month in Austin, TX, logged 30 trips so far working part time (mainly ACL/weekend related), have 14 out of 21 5 star ratings and am already getting threatening emails about my account getting de-activated because they show on their side that my 'ride acceptance rate is low compared to my peers'.

I had issues with the app hanging for 10-15 minutes sometimes while ending a trip mostly. Is my acceptance rate getting hit for ride requests that are queued up to me in the background while my app hangs? They can't tell me... Their support person basically wrote back with instructions on how to reboot my phone. Seriously???

Anyway, I just got approved as a driver for Lyft recently but have yet to drive with them. We'll see if it's a better experience.

I think they send that stupid email to everyone at some point. It's meant to scare you into accepting all ride requests. I have an 80% acceptance rate and I still got the email... and the majority of rides I don't accept are because the app wouldn't allow me to. Uber knows full well that by agreement, drivers have the right to accept or ignore any ride request they want. So unless you are abusing the system, you should be just fine.
