On Saturday, October 17th (during the UberStrike) there is a big event in Far Hills, NJ. It's a huge drink fest for the rich and want-to-be rich. Could be a huge money maker in my neck of the woods. I usually have to drive half an hour to get to highly ubered areas and now the one event within 10 miles of where I live is during the Nationwide Strike. I'm torn between making good money or supporting the strike. Will my tires get slashed if I opt to drive on that Saturday? I have bills to pay. But… I do feel some changes need to be made to some of the Uber Policies.

Whether you support the strike or not, Far Hills is one place you do NOT want to be. Those rich, drunk assholes will destroy your car faster than anything else. I used to work for a caterer that provided the food and equipment to the event. They stopped doing it because of how much damage was done by the end of the event. You'll probably end up getting deactivated as well because they won't rate you above a 1.

The hunt was huge last year. Uber was $1.65 a mile back then and they had surge turned off in that area but it was still big money. My recommendation to you is to give the strike moral support but you should work the hunt. Turn off your phone and only take surge requests (and this year there will be plenty). No reason to take anything at $1.10. You will kick yourself if you don't work it when most other drivers will be working.

Thanks for the input - I agree with the Weather Tech Floor Mats, I already have them - carpooling kids with dirty cleats inspired the investment. My kids are grown, but the mats live on. If I do drive I may also invest in some plastic seat covers, anyone have an Italian Grandmother who has an old sofa seat cover they aren't using?

They sell seat covers on Amazon, some of them are custom for your specific car. I was thinking of getting some if I got a new car.
