This is the only forum I know where the people in the business demean others for being in the business. “Ants will do the work”. What does that mean? That people who are almost as stupid as you will do the work? Seriously, I think the whole driving labor force has PTSD.

This. It really speaks to some of the horror stories I hear from pax about other drivers.

It is clear that many of our fellow drivers are miserable AF with their lives. As they say, misery loves company, and absolutely loathes anyone bringing any sunshine to their life hate parade.

Yes , Uber is wonderful to us all , unicorns and rainbows abound , after 14.5 k rides given , the pay just got slashed for the 15 th time , you newbies haven’t a clue as to your future with Uber , some of us had careers where the pay steadily rose for 30 years , this is the only company I’ve ever seen where you can see your wages fall for 6 straight years , enjoy the Pennie’s you’ll get from Uber from here on out , I’ll continue to cherry-pick and decline non profitable rides , and enjoy my semi -retirement , but as long as I remain on this board , I’ll counter anyone who sings the praises of this rideshare business

It's entertaining that you do even one trip per month. You're still filling Uber's coffers by the trip!

Least I don’t actually lose money on any trip I take , can YOU , honestly say the same thing ?

I pray I never see the day where I hate life so much that I spend my days on message boards bashing others' joy just because they are happy doing the same things I am doing. Seriously.

Do you really pray on a daily basis? And because I post on a forum, my honest opinion , that makes me hate life? I would say that that is quite a stretch , I love many things in this life, what I do not love is a company that tries to screw you over on every ride, that I will give you.
As an ex taxi driver, ex Medical Transport driver, ex limo driver, I am used to sitting and waiting for an assignment, so my mindset with Uber and Lyft is the same I sit and wait for a profitable trip, I don't care if I sit in the car for 50 hours and my active time is only 20 for 30 hours, I don't see the point of continuing to work and put wear and tear and mileage on my car just to make maybe a few extra hundred per week, I intend to keep my car in good condition so when I sell it in a few years it's still a decent Transportation car I don't intend to run the wheels off of it like is said on this site,

In my mindset my car is what’s earning the money I am guess it's driver, my job is to make sure my car earns the most amount of money per active hour/per active mile,

Depending on how busy are non-busy it is and the traffic conditions, I use one of two mindsets when I am working,

1. Pay per hour earnings, this rule is mostly used for longer trips,
I don't care what the mileage of the trip as long as my car is earning 40 plus per hour and I am dropping off in a busy City

2. Pay per mile earnings, this rule is mostly used for shorter trips,
short trips those ones that come in for under $10 especially the ones that are like $5 to $7, short trips need to be able to be completed within 10 minutes 15 minutes max if it's a slow day or slow hour of the day, if the trip is closer to the $10 range I will allow it a few more minutes, the total mileage to complete the trip can't be greater than the fare,

So think of it like a sliding scale, one end of the scale is pay per mileage based, the other end of the scale is pay for time based, so I adjust that scale as needed.

The $40 plus obviously will not work in every market and will not work at all times of day, I will be honest and sometimes I have to adjust it down to as little as 25 per hour but most mornings in the Inland Empire weekday mornings, $40 plus per hour is doable
I am also a sit and wait guy. That's probably more of a product of my market though, which seems to always have steady demand.

I usually only drive on days where I know I have all the time in the world to myself, and can come close to timing-out the full 12 hours, so what I do is I try to make each of those 12 hours as profitable as possible, which means waiting patiently for all of the best rides.

I can go out for a few hours on a day like today, but personal obligations would dictate my schedule and likely force me to have too much dead head time to where it isn't worth it.

Amusing how the ones who complain the most still drive and still feed Uber and lyft, there's an eight year old thrend on this site which has life back into it again person is driving a car in 2015 that's a Corolla already 8 years old, already saying he's getting 90 cents per mile gas is $2 a gallon and complaining about making no money, I guess have to face palm, and yes it's bad now it is getting worse, but that was 2015, and yes some of us are earning money by pulling some of the equity out of our car, well if you can't go to the bank and get a $20,000 loan or more what else are you going to do, I mean no one borrows $20,000 off their house put that in their bank and then people tell them that's not their money.

I do the same thing sit and wait, sometimes my booked active hours are only slightly more than my unbooked inactive hours,

And I count my booked hours active hours as my hourly rate, in other words if I'm in the car for 10 hours (online) and my booked active hours is 7 hours, then I calculate my hourly rate based on 7 hours not 10, some of you may think I'm crazy so be it.

I hope that if everyone continues to complain that it will drive you crazy enough to stay the hell out of a forum called "Complaints" and that will be positive change for everyone. Of course that will never happen because this is what you live for is to attack people as a form of discouragement. Good luck I am finished on this matter it's like beating a dead horse.
This is so on point.

Why do these people go on a Complaint forum to bash people for having complaints? How on Earth does one get pleasure doing such a thing?

I look at every single complaint thread as valid just because I have no way of putting myself in that poster's shoes or market. If I see something I maybe disagree with, I may offer some constructive reasoning or perspective they may not have thought about, or ask them to give more detail to help me understand, but the absolute last thing I am going to do is go into their thread to name-call them, and tell them to suck it up or quit.

Just seems like there is a faction of bitter people here, and again, it speaks to the many pax that tell me all the time how "different" or "normal" I seem compared to some of their past driver experiences. There is a very large percentage of bad/unpleasant Uber drivers, and their bad behavior is manifested here as well.

For me, I view it as "How effective was my 12 hours of allotted drive time used." Tomorrow may be a time out day, where I have nothing planned, and I am out for 14 or 15 hours of real-time. I don't care about the real time on days like that; I only care about the allotted drive time being used as efficiently as possible.
But what positive changes will come of whining to the congregation?
It is an outlet to vent and also hear other perspectives. Sometimes they may offer you some knowledge or perspective you had not considered, or sometimes it serves as mere validation.

Answer this for me - what are you offering to the forum and how are you being fulfilled by coming onto a board called "Complaints" and talking down to people for voicing their complaints?
Least I don’t actually lose money on any trip I take , can YOU , honestly say the same thing ?
Yep

My favorites are the ones who always say quit complaining or quit whining it's just a waste of time it's not going to change anything.
How do you think complaining to other drivers here will accomplish anything productive or constructive?

Because unlike you some people like to vent and complain and it makes them feel better.

When your tum tum is upset you take a shit right? Does it not usually make you feel better? Did you not produce and construct a pile of shit?

Then again heisenberg, you do your share of complaining here as well as all the other drivers.

You are not special and you are definitely in no shape or form above the din.

You both have good points…I think it’s all about balance. Venting frustration can be constructive sometimes, but some guys on here are just ****ing miserable.

Yes you're right there is a balance.

But if you're that miserable why do they keep continuing to do it? Find something else to do and move along. Life is too short to be that miserable.

Agreed…that’s why I have to take occasional breaks from driver here and Reddit. Good to see what’s going on from time to time, but too much negativity. People who are filled with nothing but hate and bitterness should move on…but it is what is. We can’t change people, they got to do it themselves.
