If they strike, it just proves they are dumber than I thought. Surely they read what happened all around the world when they strike, let alone in Perth - absolute morons.

Instead of striking, maybe the fat cat wankers who own the cabs could arrange a day where every car is professionally detailed, drivers are inspected for cleanliness and provide all drivers with free water, mints and discounted trips - hit Uber at their own game, striking does nothing, it just loses them customers.

Taxi's did this in Perth and it resulted in a 300% day on day increase for 3 days in signups and new trips.

Uber also provided a code that strike day in perth which resulted in hundreds of new trips with $25 discounts.

The taxi industry is SHOOTING itself in the foot with this sought of action.
This is exactly the reason uber doesn't have to spend money on marketing in Australia because taxi's do it all for them.
Idiots.

Dear Customer,

PTV would like to remind customers that industrial action is currently planned for tomorrow, Thursday 27 August. Should this action take place, trams will not operate between 10am and 2pm.

Train and bus services will not be affected by this industrial action and will operate as normal.

Tram customers who need to travel while the industrial action is taking place should seek alternative transport arrangements, such as train or bus, or make use of the limited replacement buses.

Hi Melbourne - it has been quiet since Thursday - how did it go with the tram strike in Melbourne - did you all make a killing ? What was surge like ? Don't you have a train strike next week ?
I thought you would all have been celebrating down there !

Uber drivers need their own strike to protest rates! But the system is set up to avoid such dilemma with people only viewing short term gain with surge pricing.

Taxi's should protest by doing free rides all day upto $25 one per customer/name. Could you imagine Uber if that were the case considering the only reason people use X is because its cheaper!

This will have a big effect, first there is not enough uber "part time drivers" to take care of the load, second I don't think Uber can do Street hails. Good for the Taxis, at least some have some balls, and don't like to get shafted like the majority of clueless uber drivers.

I don't know where you're getting this strike info from. Taxis are not going on strike. Its a co-ordinated rally in all capital cities on the steps of parliament.

The taxi service will run as usual!
