At least someone is brave enough in taking steps to try something new..
Taxi is not dead yet, still decent business during weekdays, especially morning drive.

I wish you best of luck. Keep fighting the good fight..!

It's actually the other way around.

why do i have to damage my car
Nobody forces you to damage your car. IDK why you are damaging it.

I will be on the road as a taxi driver.
Good luck with that, buddy

Yep, but it's a very steep hill going forward since July 15-th. Uber drivers won't need to pay for insurance and licence. They don't have to pay exorbitant prices for rentals. There is no way the amount of taxis there is out there would be able to compete. They are going to shrink, it's inevitable.

Looks like the way to go.

Uber used to be special.

Look what they've done to it.

Taxi industry is already shrunk. They lost big earnings long time back.. But Taxi drivers don't need to pay insurance as well. Rentals are not
outrageous anymore. No personal vehicle maintenance and repairs costs..

On the other hand, Uber driver income is shrinking day by day and will continue to slash in coming future.
Let's see when economic uncertainty calms down..

Uber ,if it continues on its present course, will be the biggest catalyst in taxi resurgence.

How do you mean? They still are obligated to have commercial insurance, no?

Rentals are not outrageous anymore.
Yeah, they are.

No personal vehicle maintenance and repairs costs.
Yeah, but they pay ridiculous amounts for rentals.

Sorry if that's the case for you. My personal experience has been consisten in this year, with no significant changes. It goes a bit up and a bit down. On average it remains the same.

A Leaner meaner app. Based taxi may emerge.
This looks just as a mixture of random words to me. Was it supposed to mean anything?

Please don't argue on something which you don't know..

The world is not about you or me.... Real face-to-face discussion with cabbies, limo, TTC and other Uber drivers on regular basis will give you exact idea about what going on in market.

Buddy, there are three limo drivers living in our apartment building. I'm having continuous conversations regarding Uber, Limo and Taxi industry and realia with two of them on a regular basis starting at the same time I started with Uber in November 2014, so please don't tell me I do not know anything about this.

I think there is still a market for Taxi's in Toronto. And the costs and the requirements to get into one has come down since the new regs have been put in place.

I think it's a great option for those looking at this full time. Get a shift on one of the cars and you pay about $500 now for the car for the week and that includes insurance. All you deal with is gas.

I will bet the prices could go even lower as more Ubers hit the road and cars sit empty on the lots.

Also plate costs have plummeted and now is a good time to buy one and do taxis. It's still a very lucrative business in the street hail world. All you need is a good car for it and keep it clean. Make deals with regulars and you will do just fine.
