Had 2 of these today and even got one Monday and the mom actually called and asked that i take their kid through the McDonald's line so they could score better on the star test. I should know better, but being abused is just another day in the life.

This has been covered many times. Transporting unaccompanied minors is grounds for immediate deactivation by Uber. PERIOD. Not to mention as an adult you must be out of your MIND hauling kids. One peep about you from one of them and you go to jail.

User Requirements and Conduct.

I had a pickup at a tanning place for a guy. Got there, and texted I arrived. He sent me a text back saying it was actually for his 15 year old daughter and a friend. I told him I could not do the ride due to them being minors and against Ubers TOS. The Mom then calls me and says well they were taken there by a Uber driver, and we did not know about the TOS issue. I told them never the less you need to cancel the ride. She said fine, she would just call another Uber. I reported the account and went about my business. I cannot believe there are people out there who take minors and parents who don't think its that big of deal.

The last minor I canceled on requested again before I could even the street. I reckon it's pretty easy to find a driver willing to take them. Uber's new teen pilot program in select cities is a bad idea. Just a way to expand the user market without any regard to driver's safety concerns. Too much liability with transporting teens. But Uber knows there are many too busy parents willing to use that service.

And... tanning facilities are not supposed to allow anyone under the age of 18 to use the machines, unless accompanied by an adult (and that's for spray only; minors can't use UV tanning devices legally in TX). So these people give zero shits.
My daughter is 15 and tans, my wife goes with her and its a spray tan. I would never ever think about putting my daughter in an Uber and let her go alone. Hell some Ubers are scary enough for adults to use.

But Uber knows there are many too busy parents willing to use that service
Too busy or too lazy?

What the Hell were you thinking you should of asked the Mother if you could of cut the grass or clean out the garage if you are that desperate

I once driven a suspected Minor and then reported account to Uber..Guess what, Uber Support wanted me again to give them the Trip #, yet when I make the report on App, I clicked Help under that same account..Didnt know what other inform did they want from me again when everything was reported on APP

Some are definitely too lazy to drive their kids around. I think the teen Uber service will also appeal to professional working parents because if Uber can drive them around they can stay at their jobs longer. Or at the very least, they have enough disposable income they can shell out for their kid's Uber rides, and then become lazy at home.

The other thing about transporting minors...since it against ToS, if you are involved in any kind of accident (including the kid tripping getting out of the car) Uber insurance will NOT cover anything. Your personal insurance will also not cover you since you were in a transport for hire status at the time of the accident. Just say no.

Everyone has to obtain their own legal counsel, but I'll share again what mine told me: Don't do it.

The one word that trumps everything else: Liability.

Unaccompanied minors, or small kids without car seats? Cancel them. You're one wreck, one accident, one false allegation away from a lifetime of living hell, where going bankrupt might be the least of your worries. The number of people in jail and prison right now for false allegations is no small number. It's in the tens of thousands!

And you could be next...

And you could be next on ChrisHansen's to catch a Uber driver. So tell me Joe when you got the ping what we're you expecting? Joe I was expecting to give an adult a ride.So Joe when you got to the house and saw the passenger had a book bag and a sack lunch that didn't set off any red flags? Joe all I wanted to do was support my family so I gave the rideknowing it was wrong. Well Joe we all know how this is going to end up. NEXT ON TO CATCH AN UBER DRIVER watch Chris Hansen have a teen order a kegger and have it delivered to a 16 year olds birthday party.

Show you? I'll show you. Go pick a kid up and zip on down the road. Take pics of the little tike having a high old time. After you drop him off send in a report on your app about the rider. Paste the tyke's pic in there and tell Uber how neat-o it is transporting minors.......let's see if you set a world record for speed of deactivation. Show you? Are you that desperate for rides? Are you for real?

I bet that mother setup Uber and Lyft on her daughter's phone for "school transportation". Then tries to act shocked when she's using it for midnight rendezvous.

Uber and Lyft don't care to enforce it because 1) teen ride demand is high and 2) Uber and Lyft shield themselves from liability from driver's actions.

They are responsible because they should be suspending accounts that have reported minor use immediately. Simply put a button or link to report it by the driver and suspend the account. That way there won't be another driver pull up in a few minutes to transport the minor.
