Maybe lockdown is the least damaging method. UK tried herd immunity for a while then abandon it. I listen to all conspiracy theory stuff, but its just too hard to believe or maybe im just a sheep 😁
Nah your good 👍
Keep using your 5G phone, while wearing your tin foil hat, and eating bat soup.

We are so lucky 🍀
It's not an ideal situation and I'm never one to partake in the US style "acceptable loss" discussion.

However, I think that the combination of being an island country and a largely responsible community has resulted in good virus control.

....or we're all terrified as **** and scared to go outside

The reason why are numbers have dropped in the last 2 weeks is quite simple-Australia introduced mandatory quarantining all intl arrivals exactly 2 weeks ago and hey presto our daily new case numbers started to drop-think it is only 86 today.

70% of our cases are from intl arrivals and probably another 15-20% from community infections from intl arrivals.

Social distancing has not made a difference imo except economic cost of closing economy.

Social distancing helps, but yes the mandatory quarantine is the biggest helps in fighting it.

There is a test now being used by St Vincent's hospital in kings x where results come back in less than 1 hour.

Germany does 50k+ tests per day-why can't we and wear mandatory face masks like in China/South Korea if are worried about it spteading.

Scomo and co are still talking about shutting down the economy for 6+ months whilst our premier Gladys says social distancing will stay until we get a vaccine which may be 18 months away.

I still don't get it especially the way are leaders are messaging current and future state of play.

They're trying another method, isolate the vulnerable and let everyone go back to normal life, there will be a rise in death, but soon everyone will be immune, let's wait and see.
Sweden has a fantastic healthcare system open to everybody so perhaps this is why they have gone alone down this path.

The US has a fantastic health care system but only open to the well off.

I would say Australia healthcare system although not on a par with Sweden but at least it is open to everybody and if u believe government big extra resources are going into it now to cope with widespread spread of this virus.

Remember the difference with US,China and Europe is that this virus hit their healthcare systems all at once whereas Australia/New Zealand, we have had now plenty of notice so should be readily prepared instead of talking about 6 months lockdowns or up to 18 months in our premier's case until vaccine arrives.

Only my 2 cents.

I suspect there would be many people that have lived through the last 4-5 weeks in NYC that might just disagree with you on that one.....and quite a few eptimologists.

But as always, I hope you are right in downplaying all the contradictory evidence to your point of view. The less impact this virus has to everyone, the better.
