Hi Guys, just checking to see if anyone had this experience. I've been driving for about a year, the Checkr background check came back that my license was suspended. Evidently I had an unpaid parking ticket (ONE) in Hoboken in NJ that wasn't paid and my license was suspended. I only knew about this when I got pulled over in NJ for driving for Uber. To make a long story short, I went thru the whole thing with Uber's lawyer for tickets in NJ and tickets were pled down which I thought was the end of it.

Now with this suspended license thing on my record I am not eligible to drive as it is a major violation in the last three years. My license is CLEAN except for that blemish! Can I get that taken off my license and/or will Uber allow me to drive seeing the circumstance?

Does anyone have the number for the Uber lawyer that represents us?

I don't think UBER is going to pay their lawyers to fight for your license for not paying parking tickets. If you license is suspended better get a UBER ride to the local DMV office to see what your options are. You can hire your own lawyer but most ask for a 5K retainer to draw from.

I wasn't asking for Uber to fight my parking ticket (ONE) ticket. They actually paid to fight my Uber tickets and gave me $1000 for my 'troubles.' My license isn't suspended.

If you can't read the post and respond constructively please don't answer at all.

With respect, maybe I'm misunderstanding but how did you drive for uber in the first place if your license was suspended and this came up in the background check?

Anyway (speaking from very little legal knowledge) I'd imagine getting your license restored just involves going to the DMV and paying all outstanding fines, surcharges and restoration fees. As for uber the most I can suggest is to try explaining that the suspension was due to an unpaid parking ticket and not a major moving violation.

My license wasn't suspended when I signed up. This came up when they did the 6 month check with Checkr. Uber runs your license every six months. My license isn't suspended--I got the ticket on Saturday/Sunday, went to DMV on Monday and I was reinstated.

OK, got it. Did you try explaining to uber that the suspension was for an unpaid parking ticket not a moving violation?

Yes, but to no avail. Suspended license is a major violation.

My question was is there a way to have this expunged from my license history?

Not true, I have since moved and now live in Arlington, Va. I have a Virginia license and didn't mention the NJ license and the suspended license in NJ still shows up.

this is not working like this.it is important which license they have initially when you applied for uber.they still have your nj license on file because you applied in nj

I got you the solution and here is what you going to do. First get a prove that your license is not suspended anymore wherever by remove the suspension on your license or by getting abstract from motor vehicle or any other evidence that the issue had been resolved.
Second go directly to Uber office in chelsea NYC (
633 W 27th St, New York, NY 1000) Do Not think that emailing customer support will help. Explain to them the situation and they will add a ticket to the support who is giving the decision to reactivate you again. If they didn't reactivate you in 48 hours go back to them sometime they forget about your case while it is already passed and ready to reactivate your account.

The problem starts from the way Checkr. Inc displaying the background check and for any minor problem on your record they have "Consider" with red font without explaining on their record why this minor issue on your record. So if you have an accident on your record and it was 100% not your fault the record shows only that you got into an accident, and with another 2 minor violation that will be enough for uber to deactivate your account because NJ DMV told them to do so.

Attention: Do Not Park your car in Chelsea they keep towing the cars there and many uber drivers cars got towed so better using the train to go there or leave it away in safe place.

This happened to me for an unlicensed driver ticket I got 1 year before I started driving for Uber. They changed their qualifications to drive when the crazy guy in Kalamazoo Killed all those people. They deactivated me in March and I just got reactivated in June, the ticket was older than 3 years, so it doesn't count against me anymore.

Even though I had over 3,000 completed trips in 21 months of driving and a 4.8 rating with no major complaints, they still deactivated me. I even went through an appeals process and spoke to a lady from the corporate office and their Trust and Safety team and they still wouldn't let me drive until the infraction is older than 3 years. I even had 2 Ops Managers from NJ (who've I met personally on numerous occasions) vouch for me with corporate and they still deactivated me.

I'm sorry to say, but you won't be allowed to use the Uber or Lyft platform until the suspended drivers license ticket is older than 3 years. There's zero exceptions to this.

I think we better double ck our licenses. I dont want to find out that they suspended my license for ticket or an electronic ticket in NYC.

For the first time, I got a ticket last year for parking illegally close to a No Parking area close to a school, sent by NYC and their electronic vigilant camera.
No police gave any ticket but the camera sent me the ticket. Incredible Robo Cops.

Now this poor guy crashed today and his licenses was suspended.
