Although I suspect most of you already know this, Uber doesn’t need the 1 in 100 guys sitting at home waiting to do a hit and run. What it needs is to entice the other 99 over the other rideshares, so a 1.4 surge is just enough to get them over the edge. Not great I know, but you know what, it works. It will be great tho if Ola and Taxify fight back.

Franco, you just don't get it do you, Taxify or Ola or Uber surging like crazy. The passengers, remember those important links in this chain, will take the lowest price and they might wait 20 minutes for an Uber but they sure as hell won't wait 20 minutes to get a ride because one of your "dumb ants" will take your passenger and they will cut your grass

Supply and demand work well in theory only. Practically not so much.
Have you ever been in a high demand area with incessant pings and no surge? I can't even tell you how many times this has happened to me. I'm talking about 3/4 pings a minute for 30min straight. With 8 cars around you all getting the same requests Uber don't have a hope in hell of filling those requests even if they turn the surge up to 10x. Do you really think this will happen to procure one SW (aka LA - Lazy Ant) sitting on his couch nearby? Not a chance!

Uber just needs to do 1.4x every morning and other peak times for a couple of weeks to get ants off taxify and ola and make them unreliable. Most pax still book at 1.4x as it is the same as Taxi.
