I traditionally Drive morning and sometimes also afternoon commute hours.
I have to change strategies as I have seen a dramatic drop in ride count this week. No more students but also people are taking vacation days.

There are other threads with tidbits of strategies so I thought I'd dedicate this thread to Summer strategies in attempt to collect them in one space

I expect commuter hours to be light but still lucrative especially Monday morning early airport run from the suburbs. I plan to do Monday a.m. and p.m. commuter hours . Tuesday will only be AM commute and take the afternoon off.

Instead of taking weekends off I will now take Wednesday off. Unless there is a big event.
Below is a link to a pretty good events site for the Greater Boston area to plan where find hot spots
https://www.events12.com/boston/june

Thursday through Saturday I will work from 3pm to to Midnite targeting ball games concerts and tourist sites in the North End, Charlestown , Seaport and Prudential areas. I imagine the Stone Zoo and Franklin Park Zoo as well as the Arnold Arboretum could also be productive.

I am not sure about the beach scene but might try Hampton and Salisbury on some nice Sundays to see how that works out.

In the first year I have avoided the bar scene but I think I will do a little bit of that over the summer months out of necessity to hit my goal of $250 per day.
This is my full-time job so I've got to find a way to exceed $1200 gross per week assuming I can earn $150- $200 in incentives.

I will also move to a balance of Uber and Lyft versus primarily just Uber. Without the higher value CTB it's harder to justify Uber only during commute hours. Unless of course the quest continues to be strong on Uber but I suspect that will diminish during summer as well.

I don't chase surge and I'm not sure PT and or boost add a whole lot to my earning but of course I'll try to maximize when I can.

If others have ideas I'm always appreciative of input.
Cheers.

If continuing full-time, are you planning to log 40-50 hours weekly most of the sumner?

Hopefully, nights at Logan will still be good due to no Uber destination filter anymore, and I think same for Lyft.

I wish you luck Mr Nobody but you just shot yourself in the foot by sharing this. Some of it's obvious. Your right some can be found in other threads. You did the work, formatted a plan... and then shared it with you competition.

Right now there are a ton of drivers panicking because the slow months are here. . Hell I saw Logan was over 170 cars just a while ago.

Check this post in a couple of days (from a PC) and see how many have "viewed" it. There are way more lurkers here than you think and right now their all nervous.

I'm not sure if this was a joke or you are intentionally trying to deceive people. Portsmouth is a dud, Rich and I covered this last year. Short bar trips 3 dollar minimums, traffic on the bridge and short lived surge. It's not like it used to be. Way more drivers now a days. The Hampton traffic sucks as well.

Newburyport is superior to both those places fwiw.

I understand we're all competitors but I do believe this is a forum for drivers helping drivers .... It's my way of giving back because I get a lot out of the Forum... right or wrong I choose to share ideas for success with fellow drivers.

That said there are times I contribute to operation misery as well

Yeah a holiday weekend and it's not constant. I have spent enough time trying to convince myself that Portsmouth could work and it never did. The locals gave up on tipping and the surge isn't dependable. Eating all the 3 dollar minimum trips is costly and then sitting idle waiting offline never panned out hourly.

I live 20 minutes away and it's 100 percent always better to head south than it is north. Summer is fine there is plenty of tourists just don't think like a zombie and wait on college kids that are long gone.

Actually Lyft has had prime time in Portsmouth almost every weekend as has Manchester. I'm sure Uber has been surging as well. If you play strategy right you can do well in these areas. I'm guessing you are the one trying to deceive people.

i get what you are saying Drivinginboston
i usually do the same, i start my day in the boston area and sometimes finish it with the nh bar close at the end of my shift

doing this a few nights a week has helped my earnings, summer is a definite challenge to make a full time living but i make it work and i am grateful that i save money during the good times so i am not stressed

The thing is this is the same complaints as last summer and many people were still out here making $1,000 or more. It might be a little more of a grind but you can still make money

Since you bring up the summer slowdown, I have a question that I have always wondered about (not that I think anyone would know for sure).

I do early mornings and pretty much rely on an airport run from my suburban spot to start my morning. I actually wait in my house and usually have a cutoff time where I go back to bed if I don’t get a ride (I don’t believe it is profitable to try and dead-head into the city since I only drive for a few hours before I need to go to my day job).

During the busy seasons (Sept-May), I can rely on getting an airport ride about 98% of the time. Most often I can get that ride without using my DF. I prefer not to use my DF because if I get an airport bound pax who is far away, I don’t get the Premium Pickup Fee. Plus I don’t want to burn a DF because I use them in the city to make sure I don’t get sent somewhere too far away and can’t get back for work on time.

But during the summer, an airport ride every morning is far from guaranteed. So my question is, if I have my DF on, does anyone know if makes matching me with an airport rider a priority? In other words, if there is a driver that is technically closer to pax but does not have a DF on, does that ride still go to him? Or does it go to me since they know I am looking to go that way. Sometimes I think it’s the latter because I’ve had mornings where it is as quite as a church mouse, but the minute I put my DF on I get a ping.

As much as I’d rather not use it, if it increases my chances of getting that airport ride, I will use it to help during the slow days.

No Ghwee. Rich and I detailed this last year and I screen shotted trips explaining the waste of time money. Sure if you live near a surfing zone in Manchester or Portsmouth turn on the app and take advantage when possible. No place in NH is worth driving north. You can grind out 200 bucks in mass in much shorter time than you can in nh.
