Any guesses what time the surge might start on Wednesday? Asking for a friend. ??

considering maybe 5 or 10 of us may strike that day and the others like me who don’t work Wednesday’s anyway, I wouldn’t get your hopes up for any “surge”

Yea I don’t get why everyone is wanting to “strike” when we are independent contractors. We have the freedom to work when we want. And if we don’t work that day or hour or whatever there will always be someone else who will work.
The strikes may be getting some attention in the news but it won’t affect Uber in anyway. If they have a few less drivers they will surge it a little to get more drivers out there. Now if something like 1/4 to 1/3 of all drivers who would have worked that day striked then that might get Ubers attention.

It is very confusing why they are trying to strike? Is it to ruin the IPO? Good luck!
Is it to get a bigger cut of the fares from Uber? Never going to happen.
Is it to get a guaranteed wage and have Uber cover expenses, and essentially be an employee? Could have just gone and drove a cab, instead of helping Uber crush the cab drivers.
Asking 10 different drivers seems to give you 10 different answers.

Maybe instead of "striking" on the slowest day of the week, try Friday. Imagine boycott port on Friday

There is no reason to drive Wednesday anyway...only base rate loser rides. Do them if you want...but I never do them.

I’m tired from driving this weekend. So I will do you all a favor and go on a 3 day strike. Enjoy my crumbs fellow ants. Go chase that “surge” this week :roflmao:

I asked a bunch of drivers if they're going to strike on May 8 and most gave the same answer, "¿Qué?"

I remember in early 2014 in San Diego it was 80/20 and changed to 75/25 two weeks after I signed up. Damn near 50/50 now if not less / more in some cases.

I just popped into the rider app. Normally this time of day there are about 10 drivers near me, today only 3 cars and 2 were about 10 minutes away. Either some people are striking or they just have other things to do..

I'm striking. I been striking for quite some time now. No non surge trips on the strip and no pickups at airport. Today I'm doing no trips period no matter how much it surges.
Anyone who is driving today is part of the problem and why things will never get better. You are grabbing short term gain for long term pain. And if you tell me you need to feed your family I say your family wouldnt be so hungry if you weren't driving for 60 cents a mile. Let your family eat rice and beans this week and tell them dad needs to take a stand. Have some self-respect for yourselves.

I worked the weekend and intentionally have not worked the last 3 days. So yes, I planned to support my fellow drivers. I've worked for Google, Konami Gaming,& several large corporations who could care less about those that increase their bottom line. This day is important and I'm taking a stand regardless of the opinions of others or those that choose to drive for their on personal reasons. Bottom line, we all have a choice.

I just turned on the rider app and there are seven cars nearby. The strike is a failure like most of us knew it would be.
