I went out just before 7am with no idea what to expect. After spending 30 minutes on uner with a $3 surge and no ping I turned on lyft and got a ride in about 10 second going 2 miles. Switched back to uber and got 3 quick rides. The 3rd was to the airport at 825 it was like a Saturday morning on Th e Kennedy. DePaul to ohare and back in about 45 minutes. The airport was deserted with maybe 5 or 6 people in the pickup area.
Of the 4 trips 2 were going home from the night before and working from home one was going to a logistics company and the airport ride was a DePaul student as classes wee switched to online as well as next weeks finals and the spring quarter will be all online. She said everyone she know is going home this weekend but dorms are officially closed late next week. Op Matt mentioned the same for u of c and all schools seem to be doing the same

The rides that were staying here estimated that 50% of people were working from home and they are all going out tomorrow for St Patrick’s

im thinking it may pickup a bit later as people get bored from home and decide to go out. Th e same happened after the polar vortex as riders said they needed to get out

Agree with your observations. I had a similar experience. I compared the traffic to one of the those holidays like MLK or President's Day where a lot of folks (but not all) have the day off. However, it tends to stay busier during non-rush hours due to the fact that folks tend to go out----gym, shopping, etc.

People will go stir crazy working from home. I suspect many will need to get out of the house, even if it's only to go to the local coffee shop to work from there. As a side note, I expect there to be a spike in pregnancies-----coronavirus babies if you will-----with young people staying at home, "working" in pajamas. Also expect to see a spike in recreational marijuana sales. Just sayin'.......

Uber closed Hub till 6 of Aprìl indicates all major companies will follow as they have inside information. 2 weeks is exactly what I've heard downtime in China, here won't be any different. As to the fact that many people will die I guess the natural selection won't be shy this time and will hit us with full power just like it does to human kind every decade.

Heard those things on the radio this morning. Big baby boom nine months from now. That put it right around the holiday season.

It will only take until about mid morning or lunch before I have to leave the house when it comes to working from home.

Thursday night felt weird too, early ghost town, it surged decently finally at 4am. Young people still going out since they believe it attacks old people mostly.

I'm anxious to see how the next two nights go, and the it's gong to be really slow at weeknights as well, since people will stop going to restaurants, and most of my night time pickups are from restaurants/bars including industry people closing and going out later.

I've been doing Amazon flex this whole morning, less contact with humans, lots of demand right now and hopefully good tips.
Do they have any sign up bonus or referral bonus system? PM me your referral if any. I see they finally support iPhone users finally, I couldn't sign up a few years ago when they only allowed android phone users.

I'm still on Postmates, signed up in late 2014, delivering on bike was awful, before starting Uber and Lyft in early 2015. I will have to start doing Postmates delivery again if it continues to go slow.

Unfortunately they don't. It's almost impossible to even sign up, I had been trying for almost a year then finally a month before the Christmas shopping season I was able to sign up. I heard they even have a waitlist or something

Well worth the shot. I have Postmates as back up for now.

I just started looking to go back to my professional job, but now that the economy has crashed it's going to be tough finding a job, especially in my profession. It seems like I'll be stuck in this gig business for some time.
