Not sure how long this will go on with the outbreak. Cabbies still get calls to pick up everywhere. Jails, hospitals; just about evrywhere. My local airport suspended curbside permits for taxis, so Uber and Lyft takes all the risks there, now. What the hell are we gonna do? I'm going out there and picking people up still; not knowing if someone is infected with transferrable sickness. I'm more concerned about the virus, then I am about getting physically assaulted. I can take abuse; but not that coronavirus.

I sanitize my cab, wondering if that is really gonna stop anything. Intoxicated passenegrs do not play by the rule of social distancing, and still get in my face. Dirty money still gets exchanged. I cannot just turn my cab in and quit for a few weeks, or I'll end up being homeless. I read about weraing facemasks, gloves and what not helps. I don't think that is gonna do anything with people leaving germs in my cab. It would be nice to have a shield in there, like they have in police cars, but never had one of those.

Maybe ultraviolet light bar on the ceiling, to kill germs???

Full facemasks are very difficult to find. I'm toying with idea of swim goggles along with those half masks when I need to go to the grocery store. That might prevent my eyes from picking up infected droplets when crossing path where someone recently sneezed. I usually wear swim goggles when I peel onions, so I know they work well to protect the eyes. I'm unconcerned about looking silly.

I drive cab in Las Vegas. I used to drive sick four months a year. I would just get over it and get it again but worse This would go on all winter.. People in the car hacking, sneezing, blowing their nose all night. I started carrying a can of Lysol in the cab three years ago. When they get out I spay they money if they pay cash. Then sanitize my hands. I then spray the crap out of the entire back of the car. The air, the seats, door handles, everything then shut the doors for a minute windows up. When I get back in I drive windows down to my next destination. I have only been sick once that I can remember the last three years.

I am glad that the cab business in Chattanooga is still holding up. Another guy in Southern California says that it is holding up there, as well. In the Capital of Your Nation, it is destroyed. I have been doing Uber/Lyft and leaving the cab at home.

I keep the Sani-Wipes, a spray can of Lysol® disinfectant and a bottle of Spray Nine in the car. The Lysol® is also a de-odoriser, so I spray that frequently. I use either the Sani-Wipes or simply spray the Spray Nine on my hands frequently. I stay faced forward. If the customer has anything to go into the trunk, I tell him to put down the stuff, get into the car and I will load it. If that will not work, I simply hold open the trunk lid, step away from the car while keeping a hand on the trunk lid, then close it once the customer is finished. When the customer gets out and takes his items, I spray the Lysol® de-odoriser in the trunk. The de-odoriser is also a disinfectant, so I have sprayed that onto my hands, as well.

The cab business in Orlando is so bad right now that the big company has slashed rentals in half until disney has reopened. Monday i'm going to go back out and try working, see how it goes.

I'm doing Doordash too. Seems like more deliveries than people these days.

Reading the site for Uber/Lyft in the DMV on Facebook and it seems lots op RS drivers are making good money.🤷‍♀
It is steady out there, but not particullarly busy. There were two mild surges on Uber, at least that I saw. I got one from each, but they were longer trips than I would have liked considering the surge payment (two dollars and change). Still, I did allright last night for the time that I invested. It was minimally acceptable. These days, you must be glad for what you get.

It was funny, though, once I got far out into the Virginia suburbs after eight P.M., I stayed busy until I saw an open Wendy's in Annandale. GF wanted a milk shake from the Tenally Z-Burger, but, I was not going to make it by its closing time, so she had to settle for a Wendy's Frosty, but she was happy with that.

The cab business is the total pits, here, but, at least TNC work is minimally acceptable.

Are you running that out of the cab, or another car? We have Door Dash, Fubar Cheats and a couple of others, here. The one thing that I do not like is that they keep you waiting at the restaurants, here, but, I suppose that being kept waiting at a restaurant is the equivalent of sitting somewhere waiting for a job.

I got one of these on the way. It will hang from the CD phone mount while sanitizing.

Where did you buy it? And, is it safe to use?

I found some similiar products that will charge via usb, but, they only run for 30 minutes at a time. Are you thinking of using after each passenger gets out, or when one starts coughing and sneezing?

Some quotes found after quick search:

"UV radiation (UVR) used in most germicidal bulbs is harmful to both skin and eyes, and germicidal bulbs should not be used in any fixture or application that was not designed specifically to prevent exposure to humans or animals. ... Chronic effects include accelerated skin aging and skin cancer."

"Ultraviolet is able to kill COVID-19 if it is exposed to the concentrated UV ray in a certain amount of time and distance," Dr. Pokrath Hansasuta, an assistant professor of virology in Chulalongkorn University's Department of Microbiology, explained to AFP by phone on March 18, 2020. "However, that level of UV exposure is harmful to human's skin."

"Unfortunately, these conventional germicidal UV lights are also a health hazard to humans and can lead to skin cancer and cataracts, which prevents the use of UV light in public spaces."
