Did you use the card to pay for a meal at a restaurant? Sometimes those skimmers are used when the waiter/waitress takes your card back to be run.

This is also a possibility.

I actually had this happen to me this past spring when Uber was hacked. I had my card linked to my pax account and someone tried to book a trip to Aruba on it. Fortunately, my card company notified me right away and the charge didn't go through. However, they had to issue me a new one.

I always try to keep less than 100 dollars in my checking and dump everything else into savings which isnt linked to my card.....
That's excellent advice! Thanks!

woke up to a text from my bank and now have account on hold until I get the new cards in the mail anyone ever deal with something like this??
This happened to me last week. It was used in a Hotel/Casino in Lake Elsinore. They succesfully took $426, then tried $850 and $105 but the bank got suspicious, declined it and sent me a text. I'm not sure if this is related in anyway but a few weeks ago, I got a call claiming he was a CSR from Uber when I intimated to him that the call was being recorded, the phone went dead. I called Uber and they claimed the call wasn't from them.

Noticed new MC/Visa Credit Cards are making me set pin. I was used to this with MC/Visa Debit cards, but seems new on credit cards. I made a 300+ MC instore Crdit Card purchase yesterday, and had to enter the pin code. Might help ... but can the pump skimmers record the pin number entered too?

Heard a new thing will be a lcd cvc three didget on the back that will change with each purchase, used in other countries, but deemed too costly to roll out in the US, and cheaper for issuers to eat the chargebacks.

What a pain when you are hit with card fraud. Hard for paycheck to paycheck folks like most of us.

I have two accounts. One that I keep around $50 in and one that has the rest in it.

I can transfer via the banks mobile app to replenish the $50 account easily. I use the ATM card with the $50 in it for small purchases.

If I'm going to make a larger purchase I transfer the money into the $50 card right before I use it.

I normally get nailed after filling up at a gas station. But, there was a security breach at Arby's a while back. So fast foods restaurants are just as susceptible to the skimming.

It's normally mostly kids.

They'll test the card at a mcdonalds for a few buck, gas station for a few bucks or a parking meter. At least that's been my experience.

I always get a kick when they try and charge $400 at Kmart or $300 at Ralph's or $200 at BevMo and it gets declined. At least I know they look stupid when the card declines.

Probably little Cesar's. You may have to switch pizza places.

In Asia, they have the chip card. But they also send you a text to your cell phone to approve the charge before they authorize it. Hhhmm, guess that's where they have the biggest issue with fraud. Imagine that.

Apple has the iPhone and China has the EYEphone. Haha.
