Greetings guys,

I am a new Uber driver. I have a couple questions:

1. a previous employment required me to register as a sole proprietor about 6-7 years ago under my name. I haven't renewed it. So am I right to assume it is no longer valid and I have to register again?

2. I also want to open another small business on the side (repairing things) with some fancy business name. Should I register as a sole proprietor, get an HST # for that business, and use the same HST number for Uber and Lyft?

Check with CRA if your old number is still valid. If not you can apply for another one. You only need one number for all your businesses if you are sole proprietor.
