If anybody has been picking up at DFW, how's it going? How is it at the staging area? Crowded? Everything going smoothly?

My driving for Uber will basically only be driving co-workers/neighbors to the 2 airports and getting a pickup (hopefully in the vicinity of my house)

I haven't gotten my DFW permit yet but thought I would throw this out there. Most flights in and out of DFW are American Airlines. AA recently changed their flight schedule to a "banked" system, meaning a slew of fights all arrive around the same time and another slew of flights depart around the same time. This is a change from their previous schedule where there was a constant in and out flow of flights. So I am wondering if drivers are seeing that wait times are fairly long and then all of the sudden all of the cars start getting fares at once.

I guess the fact that I was an employee with the airline for seven years, up until late last year and my wife is a customer service supervisor would not give me some kind of working knowledge of what goes on at DFW. The key word there is wondering, meaning I don't know but would like to find out.

Getting most of your fares from terminal E could be stemming from the fact that Spirit operates out of that terminal and the passengers who fly Spirit may be more likely to use a service like über instead of other ground transportation options.

OT But with the rates southwest is putting up against Spirit, Spirit may not last forever, I got $41 flights to Vegas and seeing them to LAX too one way

I have been getting a lot of pickups at DFW. I usually drive there and park just outside the airport at 730pm every night. Last night I had 3 UBer pax and 1 Lyfy at DFW.

I usually just park outside the airport and I get pinged. Not sure if that counts as not waiting on the official que. And for me, it doesn't matter whether they were a Spirit or AA passengers. What matters to me is they ride Uber/Lyft.

ok gotcha I have not yet gotten my DFW airport sticker so I am sure you know better, I just thought that rideshare drivers had to go to a specific place before they went to pick up passengers

A question I have is has anyone actually bothered to get the permit? I ask because a friend who also drives for UBER got a ping from Love Field and took it. He has no permit so I was very surprised that UBER even gave him the ping! If Manolo is still outside the airport and getting pings, begs the question if the permit has been obtained?

why would they bother sending the pins to only the drivers with permits? Send it to any driver. If they are not arrested, fine. If they are arrested, well we told you , you need a permit. You didn't listen. Deal with it youslrself. So. They have nothing to lose

ANY driver can get the ping. I got one but ignored it because I don't have a permit and didn't want to risk the fine if caught! I've even hear they can impound your car if you don't have a permit.

Yes, you are supposed to stay in the staging area at Terminal B. I'm surprised that Manolo has been getting pings outside the airport, but whatever works. Just don't let them catch you!

I believe the intent is that you're not supposed to be trolling or parked inside the airport except in the staging area. If you're legally parked outside the airport and get a ping, there's nothing they can do about that. I doubt Uber or Lyft are doing anything special with pings inside the airports. If you're parked outside the airport and get one, it's likely you were just the closest driver. I haven't looked to see where the staging area is, but I bet if you could find an off-site location that happened to be closer to a terminal than the staging area you'd get the ping every time.

Both DFW and DAL are (supposed) to use a FIFO queue system (both Uber and Lyft). Being "closer" to the terminal area (should) have zero effect on who receives the ping.

If u live in Dallas they will be headed to Ft Worth If you live in Denton they will be headed to Mansfield.... Just kidding but luck is luck and basically the net gain from these rides can range from $5 $10 $15 $20 bucks at a time. Back and Forth Back and Forth it is what it is. Make sure u know when airport is busy with flights landing or you will be paying $3 and $4 tolls just to exit.
