I did $175 in nine hours: 6pm - 3am, but in different areas: Eastern Mass, Greater Providence and South Shore. I was only in Eastern Mass because I had just finished a courier run from the New Haven area to just south of Boston. The courier job paid about $130, so added to my Ubering, I made just over $300 gross in twelve hours.

Driving to different areas helps a lot. It's hard to make money in one area, especially when there are thirty other drivers in the same area all insistent on staying there, too.

This time of year is slow. But checking my records from the last two years I can see that ridership has greatly increased, but surge price has basically been eliminated by the massive influx of the new drivers and relaxation of rules for the older cars and those with criminal records we now have uber cars every where. Last night - a Saturday there was hardly any surge price anywhere. This is a very bad pattern

Surge used to make up 10-15% of my income

What kind of courrier job is that? Is it something available on a gig basis like uber?

It's a regional delivery service based near Worcester. I mainly do deliveries from a business in Norwich, but occasionally they will ask me if I'm available for longer runs in CT, RI, MA or NH.

My favorite was a STAT medical delivery I did Thanksgiving eve three years ago during a blizzard. No one else would do the run. It was from the CVS shipping facility near Boston to a customer's house near Binghamton, NY.

I left around 6:00 pm. Cars and trucks were sliding off the Mass Pike everywhere. It took me seven hours to get there, but I got the woman her medical supplies. Took a quick nap and drove back home. Got back at 10:00 am and had a nice Thanksgiving.

There are many courier services in Connecticut you could apply with. For medical deliveries, you need certification.
