Good morning everyone. I dont see how anyone that drives uberx can make any money without surge in place. I accidentally went online while in Drexel Hill after I had installed the app and recieved my first ping! I didnt know how to accept it at first so my first instinct was to "tap" the screen and I was enroute. Picked up a great group of people that were headed to the Xfinitylive Center, 20 miles away! Great conversation along the way to boot. I didn't have to navigate to end the ride as the app displayed the option to end the ride and rate the pax. I was then able to see the total fare earned for that ride.. $20? ! Was it worth it? other than I gaining some OJT, no. So, now I only consider driving when it is 1.5x and I am already near the area. How do Uberx driver's make any money driving without any surge pricing? Just curious.

Lots of rides. Lots and lots of rides. Eventually they add up to something after lots of rides. Lots and lots of rides.

Lol! Oh, joy![/Q we need to find a way to educate drivers on the benefits of going offline even when you want to work. They don't understand that ultimately drivers drive the price. Ever since the price but drivers drive the price. If drivers went offline during times when we know that there would be demand even when we're not sure of him and simply going offline will drive up the price. The problem though would be in having drivers systematically logged on so that way everyone could ride automatically erasing the surge with loads of people coming online at the same time

I wish I could tell you how to make great money off Uber however there is no single sentence that can help you. It's a combination of tactics and strategies that doesn't always work. I recommend never driving 15 minutes from a surge area to pick up non surge because that's exactly what everyone else is doing and that's why it's 15 minutes away.

This is very true. Keep in mind that there are always Millions upon Millions, I'm exaggerating, of Uber drivers on the road. That considered if you get a pain that is 15 or 10 minutes away, evidently some driver has turned it away for some reason. Maybe the driver called and found out that that person is going right up the street. Maybe it's a low rated passenger. Maybe the area is a bad area so they're legitimately legitimately may not be other drivers in the area. Just keep in mind there is some reason you may not know why, but there's some reason why you are being asked to go to a ride so far away. Most likely you should just turn it down as well.

Just the night recieved a ping from an affluent part of town approximately 3 miles away from my locatiom. Got there and took a lady and her son exactly 0.75 miles away to a school play, and I almost got out of my vehicle join them, just so I could have said I did something productive and worthwhile, then again , I cringe when I hear school aged kids hack up Christmas carrols with no regards to pitch and the such. I read somewhere and not clear if we/drivers were to do that, it would be considered manipulation of the surge system? I have logged on in a surge and soon as it dissipated, I logged off. My vehicle gets an average of 17mpg and 22 hwy..so , the only time it makes any kind of sense to me to drive is during surge. I

I log off as soon as the surge disappears if I have been tasting the search. Essentially what ends up happening is passengers know that they can request a ride as soon as the surge disappears and if anything if I am manipulating search then the past and you're doing so well but where is their. For that reason but I am doing is not manipulating surge as an independent contractor I am making the best business decisions for my operation.
