In reality it represents a pay cut. I didn't have the feeling that I was particularly well paid as things were. Maybe its ok for the $90.00 per hour people like Bath. For me it makes me realise that although I (and many people like me) provide the reality of the experience of the Uber brand, that the company does not actually value us. If I were to call it a day, there will be two or three newbies queuing up to fill my shoes, who no doubt would be prepared to drive for even less. Its the hungry mile all over again.

In reality it has zero net effect on your earnings, although it does have an impact on cashflow

The only people subject to a 22% commission are those who have signed up before April 2016 and have never paid a cent since in GST to the government. Quite extraordinary they are complaining!

Yes you are correct, we will have a slight cash flow issue for each quarter as your earnings will be less 2% or 2.5% each week , but when you do you bas/gst each quarter you claim the Uber fee gst as a input tax credit...

I started at 25% and will now be at 27.5%, so my income will go down.
That's if you are not registered for gst and NOT provided your ABN to Uber...

If you are registered for GST and provided abn to uber, you will be able to claim a input tax credit on the Uber fee gst.
Which means there is a nil net effect...

This would only be the case if uber were paying the GST right? if you have given them your ABN etc, then you remain on the same % (20/25) and you pay the GST to the ATO as you have been previously I thought.
That is what I hope happens come august 1....

I upload abn and tfn immediately after I received email from fuber. And i paid gst ontime every quarter. Why did i also get this service fee increase?
They are witholding GST on the service fee. You just need to get an ABN/GST registration and upload it to Uber. That will give your old 20% commission back.
I uploaded gst and abn in june and got fuber email confirmation. Why did i still get increase?

If you don't understand how this has no effect on your income, you should have an accountant look after your affairs, as you are probably making mistakes that are costing you money.

Alternatively get a job that pays a regular salary and doesn't require you to know about this

Your uber fee goes up, your GST payment goes down by the same amount.

No idea, my commissions didnt change. As others have pointed out, it makes no difference as you will pay less GST each quarter.
