So I bought this from ebay. It should arrive next week. I've never used/owned one of these but I'm sure it'll give me some peace-of-mind just incase shit (potentially) hits the fan.

If the passenger starts to attack me i'd just run asap. My safety is more important then my car. Flight is always better then fight imho.

i have never had a confrontation that would warrant violence in 12,000 rides so i'm not worried, but i will defend myself and my property.

i would not leave my car, dash cam, phone, and iPad and run but thats just me.

yeah, if you emptied a can in your car it might be totaled or unusable for rideshare again.

and people forget that they will be get a face full in close quarters and disable themselves just like a taser if the person is touching you

A month ago I was giving a ride to a Lowell bar. At a stoplight me and the PAX watched two groups of neanderthals on the sidewalk square off and start fighting , Lowell PD arrived moments later and pepper sprayed 2 of them as they scattered.

From 15+ feet away we smelled and tasted the spray. I quickly closed my window that was only open a couple inches. I'm not very experienced with the stuff, but if it spreads in the open air that quickly, I think if you sprayed someone in your closed car it would be very unpleasant for you too.

I personally would rather have other options for self defense. If your life was in danger and it could stun your assailant long enough to get away, even if it also caused you discomfort in the process, it would be worth it.

Your best weapon is situational awareness followed by the vehicle itself. Crazy bright flashlights too if you drive at night. They're extremely disorienting and can buy you time to create distance or take other action.

Practice with 2 cannisters and you'll be ready with the 3rd.

Gel is better.

With Gel/Foam it can be wiped off though the sting is there it's not as effective as a spray... so I've read.

Worked out well so far.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge proponent of people carrying stuff to defend themselves.

Pepper spray isn't going to be the first option I'm going to use though.
